I can’t wait for the new WordPress version to come out. WordPress 3.0 is apparently due to come out sometime in May and if everything I’ve read about it is true it’s going to make my life a lot easier!
The feature I’m most looking forward to is the ability to update multiple blogs at once. They’re incorporating WordPress MU into the new WP 3.0 which means, I believe, if you have more than one WordPress blog you’ll be able to update all your blogs to the latest WP version at the same time, and you’ll also be able to update all of your plugins across your blogs at once as well. It’ll be like WordPress on enzyte LOL.
At least I hope it works the way I’ve explained above. It sounds like it will, but I guess I’ll have to wait and see when it comes out.
As usual I won’t be updating all of our blogs to the newest version until it’s been out for at least two weeks. I made the mistake about a year ago of doing a big update on all my blogs to a new version of WordPress the day it came out and whichever version that was (2.8 I think ) it was kind of buggy and it messed up my sites until the next update came along.
Do you have more than one blog using WordPress? If so, are you looking forward to WordPress 3.0 as well?

Can’t wait. The thing with the posting failure has been getting to me for a long while now. There’s no one solution that works for everyone who has this problem so.. Every time I post a new post, it throws an error and I lose my post or parts of it. That really sucks! Not sure what WP3 does but I hope they address this annoying problem. Everything else will be a bonus 🙂

I haven’t had a posting problem with 2.9.2 at all. I did have a bit of a posting problem with that update I mentioned a year or so ago … i think it was WP 2.8 that I’d upgraded to. At that time I couldn’t put in new tags or add images using the image editor. The next upgrade that came up fixed that though.
Are you sure your posting problem isn’t due to a conflict with a plugin that you’re using? Have you tried turning off all of your plugins and turning them on one at a time to see if that helps?

I haven’t had any problems uploading in the current version, either. I use minimal plugins myself, so that could be the issue. I learned my lesson early on after losing major posts because of software conflicts. New versions are always exciting, but they also make me nervous.

I always do some research before upgrading my WordPress to its new version since its releasing new version every now and then. I am more careful in order to avoid bigger problems. There are versions which are not compatible with the plug-ins I needed and end up loosing my files and I can’t recover it anymore. Thanks for the info.

Rich the only time I updated right away when a new version of WP came out was about a year ago and I had all kinds of problems so since then I’ve vowed to wait at least two weeks (or more) before doing an update just to make sure all the bugs are really out and that plugin updates really work with the new version. So far (fingers crossed) that’s worked well for me.
BTW I use the WP backup Database plugin to email me weekly backups of each of my blogs. AND I always do a backup before I update a blog. I haven’t needed the backups so far, but it’s good insurance just in case!

Tricia, very sensible to wait until bugs have been ironed out before upgrading to WP 3 I’ll be keeping a watch on developments for a few weeks first. You never can be too careful, and I do not want to have my weblogs messed up for sure.

I have a few self-hosted WordPress blogs. But I guess I will keep them separate. Those are on different domains. And I just don’t want to mess it up. For WordPress MU you have to install a domain mapping plugin and then park and map it to the blog. Rather I would keep the DNS settings independent.
Wordpress has already made life a lot easier for me 🙂
