I was talking with a couple of my friends earlier today and we might go on a shopping trip this Friday.
Yep, we might drive into the U.S. for Black Friday. I’m in Toronto and it would only take about two hours or so to drive to Buffalo for a shopping trip.
I still don’t know if we’ll go or not, but if we do we might even leave on Thursday night so that we can be ready to shop bright and early Friday morning.
I’ve never gone shopping on Black Friday. I imagine it’s pretty crazy! If anyone has any tips for me as to how to survive Black Friday shopping sprees I’d love to hear them!

My take on the whole thing is this. There are a couple exceptional buys that people line up for early in the morning. If you want one of those, you need to go early or they will sell out. You might even need to be one of the first 5 people in the door. I can’t believe that people have been run over by others rushing in to the stores. But by 9:00 a.m., it’s just like any other really busy Saturday shopping around the holiday. If you enjoy the hustle and bustle of holiday shopping, you will enjoy Black Friday. There are sales all the time up until Christmas so I don’t know that the prices are much better on Black Friday than they are other weekends up to Christmas. In our area, it just hasn’t seemed that bad on Black Friday. I believe more people are shopping online which helps diminish the crowds. Enjoy it!

Wow, looks like you’re going to get quite an experience there! Over where Iive people go crazy during Black Friday. But really: it all depends on how insane the people are for cheap stuff. Me, and my dad: not so much. My aunt: different story.
Nice article!

Well, they usually kick off the shopping season with lots of good promotions and open real early. Maybe the early bird gets the worm? Also, don’t be spooked by “black” – someone told me that the term originated because the pre-Xmas sales period put shopkeepers “back in the black!”

I’m not a fan of shopping, but I like good deals. I think that I’ll do most of the shopping one day before Christmas, and then immediately after. I hate the crowds, and i hope that this way i’ll avoid the agitation.

I do all but stocking stuffers online. Much simpler. Sorry it’s been so long since I’ve been here.

Deals or no deals, we try to stay as far as possible from the shopping malls between now and Christmas. In fact, we just stocked up at Target last week to try to avoid going there until the end of the year. Thank goodness for the Internet!

Black Friday is popular as a shopping day for a combination of several reasons. As the first day after the last major holiday before Christmas it inaugurates the Christmas season. Additionally, many employers give their employees the day off as part of Thanksgiving leave, increasing the potential number of shoppers. In order to take advantage of this, virtually all retailers in the country, big and small, offer various sales. Recent years have seen retailers extend beyond normal hours in order to maintain an edge, or simply keep up with, competition. Such hours may include opening as early as 4:00 a.m. or remaining open overnight on Thanksgiving day and beginning sales prices at midnight. In 2010.
