I’m seriously thinking about getting a new laptop computer. I really don’t want to spend the money, but my computer is running very slow and it’s hard drive is filling up. I’m working on moving some of the files off of the computer to make more room and I’m hoping it will run faster, but still … the hard drive will fill up again. If I don’t buy a new laptop now I’ll be getting one soon.
It probably doesn’t help that I have everything on my computer from all the photographs I take, to the new videos that I’m taking each day, all of our music, my ebooks and other books and tons of blogging related stuff.
So … if I were to seriously start looking at new Laptops what do you think I should be looking for? The main thing that I use my laptop for is to work on my websites and blogs. I’m on my laptop 16 to 18 hours a day – writing, writing, and editing. When I’m not writing I’m uploading photos or video and then editing them. So I need a computer that can handle graphics, and it’s picture quality must have fairly true to life color quality.
I’m still also toying with the idea of getting a Mac. I’d love a Mac but I’ve never had one or even used one. Odd since I do some much graphics work I know.
Any suggestions?

My wife loves her Dell laptop. I have a niece that absolutely loves her Apple laptop. I was never willing to pay the price premium for Apple, but I know that people who deal with a lot of graphics swear by them.

A MAC would be good idea because they integrate hardware and software so you will be sure to have it run smoothly and fast for a long time but this comes at a high cost…you can also chose an cheaper alternative from ASUS or HP but watch out so that you have enough RAM (minimum of 2GB) ,Intel Processor(minimum Core2Duo) and a Nvidia graphics card

Hi Trish,
Personally, I prefer a MacBook. I have upgraded my operating system 3 times in 6 years with needing to buy a new computer. PC’s will require your motherboard to be compatible with the new OS and you eventually buy a new laptop every two years. My Mac has given me very few problems, other than the learning curve between a PC and a Mac. I have a PC at work and have used HP’s and Dell for 20 years. Learning how to use a Mac has been a challenge but one I am grateful for.
Bottom line, is reliability and functionality. The Apple computer will cost you more during the original purchase but save you money in the long run. I purchased my MacBook for $1,000 in 2005 and now I am finally ready to purchase a new one, which currently sells for $1,000. How reliable is that?

Why don’t you buy an external hard disk? It’s getting cheaper nowadays. You also can upgrade your RAM if you do not wish to buy a new laptop. Dont forget to upgrade your motherboard also.

My last laptop was hp pavilion entertainment laptop, all things ok except the overheating. If you like watching online video or playing games, i would not recommend it.
