Sometimes I wonder about my husband

January 23, 2007 by Tricia

Yesterday, while I was still sleeping Chris was up and about. He decided to get some errands done.

I don’t know which order he did these in, but it doesn’t matter, I wasn’t all that thrilled when I found out about them.

One of his errands was to go to our hair dresser to get his haircut. He didn’t need a haircut, and without me there to tell her not to do it she gave him a BEAN SHAVE. Ok it’s not that bad, but it’s short, short, short. I’m not enthused. Plus, we usually go together. Yeah we’re one of those couples that do most everything together.

So now, when I need to get my hair cut he won’t need a cut.

He put us out of sync!

Chris also went and got his nails done. Yes you heard me right. I said he got his nails done.

The nail thing began last April.

You see he’s a guitar player and he’s quite serious about his music. Many of the top guitar players either coat their nails to make them stronger or wear fake nails and use them when they are picking. They holding up better than real unaltered nails in most cases.

My husband actually envies my nails. They grow fast and they are rock hard. I have to be careful that I don’t accidentally tap someone with my nail or hit them as I’m walking by as it really hurts.

So … last April he finally decide to get fake nails, but only on his right hand. You can read about my reaction to his fake nails if you’d like.

I think he’s had his nails done at least four times now. I’m slowly getting used to it but I still think it looks weird. I also don’t really like it when he touches me with those nails. It just feels weird. Do guys feel that way when they are touched by a womans fake nails?

Chris is funny. Over the past year he’s been very fixated on his nails and has been trying to get them in better shape. He’s got a few little bottles of nail conditioners and clear nail polish too! Plus he’s always filing the nails to shape them (files them wrong in my opinion, maybe that’s why they feel so darn weird), or filing callus’ off his hands.

I don’t mind nice smooth hands but the nails stuff is making me crazy.

I guess I just have to face the fact that I married an odd guy. At least he keeps me amused.

Read about Asian Celebrities

January 23, 2007 by Tricia

Here’s an interesting site for my Asian visitors. I just visited an Asian Entertainment site, and by all appearances it looks to be very much like a celebrity site, similar to my own Celebrity Scoop except that it’s all about famous Asian celebrities.

The site is called Asia entertainment news, and it features news about Asian celebrities and socialites from China, HK, Japan, Korea and Taiwan. The site keeps up with news of these celebrities whether they are in their home Countries or abroad in Europe or North America. It’s also written in English.

It’s an interesting read even for non Asians as I’ve recognized some of the stars who’ve been written about on the site as having made a name in film or music here in North America.

The site has a nice, easy to read format and it’s filled with photos of the stars. Visit the site if you are interested in Asian celebrities.

What a deal!

January 23, 2007 by Tricia

Yesterday Chris had the day off and we decided to go out and run some errands. He’d already run some errands of his own, see my next post!

I had some cheques that I hadn’t gotten around to depositing in the bank – ones from Google, Text Links Ads, Amazon, and we wanted to transfer some money from a new bank account that we’d started just for our paypal money into our regular accounts. So one of the errands was to do our banking.

It felt good putting that money in the bank and moving the Paypal money around. We’ve both been earning money with Payperp0st but we really haven’t used it for anything yet. Well, now it’s moved into the bank accounts that we pay our bills and our mortgage with, so I can finally say that P is paying my mortgage! Yeah! Believe me, that’s a nice feeling!

After that we wanted to just get a few things in the grocery store and maybe go to Walmart to get one or two things that we needed.

Well, we went to the closest Walmart and found it in CHAOS! You see, this store is closing down and moving to a new superstore Walmart just down the street on Wednesday.

We managed to get some great deals!

I spotted a 25 piece ratchet set (I think that’s what it is). Chris has always wanted one of those, and I remember helping him change our car battery last January in the freezing cold with tools that just didn’t fit right, so I had no problem with him wanting to get a set. The set was regularly $49.95 or something to that effect, but they marked it down to $25 for us.

Then I spotted one of those exercise BalanceBall kits. It too had normally been priced at $49.95 but the sign above it said $29.95. I thought that was fair. I’ve wanted one of these exercise balls for well over a year. The assistant manager was in the area marking down prices on each item. Apparently they had to be tagged before you brought them to the cashier. When I showed her my find she marked it at $15. DEAL! However, when I got to the cash they only charged me $5! Bonus!

We found a few other things that we could use that were also marked down quite a bit, but I’d say that getting the ratchet set and the balanceball which normally would have cost over $100 for only $30 was the best deal of all.

Oh I almost forgot. We got one other deal. When I got to the cashier I noticed that they had a number of potted flowering bulbs for sale. I think all of them were daffodils, and they were already flowering so they really weren’t worth purchasing.

Then I spotted one lone Orchid among the daffodils. Orchids are very nice, very exotic flowers. I already have three of them here at home but they are sooooo nice.

I held on to it and when we got to the cashier I asked her how much it was. She had to call for a price check and the manager had to come and help over-ride the prices on our other great deals anyway. It turns out that the orchid, which I know from seeing them at many other stores that sell plants are normally about $30 each, was just $5.00! A final bonus!

The orchid is now sitting on my kitchen table, blooming it’s pretty little head off. I love it.

Maybe this weekend we’ll go to the new superstore Walmart and see if they have any great grand opening deals.

Fast online loans

January 23, 2007 by Tricia

Did you know that if you are looking to get a small loan or a cash advance on your paycheck that you can do it via the Payday website?

The process is actually very easy, simply fill in the information on the quick Qualify form on the main page and you’ll find out almost instantly if you qualify for Payday cash Advance Loans. It really is that simple.

There aren’t very many companies that allow you to get an Online Cash Advance but you can very easily, quickly and painlessly at the Payday Loan Online website. You don’t have to fax any paperwork to the company, and you don’t have to wait for days to find out if you qualify.

Check it out the next time you find yourself short on cash and in need of some money quickly.

January 22, 2007 by Tricia

This is a sticky post, regular posts below

birthdaycake

I’m trying to decide what to do for Tricia’s Musings first birthday. Should I hold a blog party on Sunday?

Will you come to Tricia’s Blog Party Jan. 21st?

Ok, so if you’re coming to the party it will start right at midnight EST Sunday January 21st. Tricia’s Musings will be one year old on that day so if you’re bringing gifts with you please make them age appropriate.

Some hints on the types of gifts that you might bring Tricia’s Musings:

Birthday Hat Tricia’s Musings loves having fun and enjoys nothing more than a good laugh. Musings also enjoys photos of nature and just anything that could be considered drop dead gorgeous (that includes nice looking men of course!). I’ll leave it up to your imagination because I know that you all have vivid imaginations. Surprise me ok?

Chocolate fountain It’s going to be a pot luck party. Tricia will be serving Chocolate covered strawberries, chocolate, chocolate ice cream and chocolate cake. There will also be bowls of fresh fruit and veggie trays with ranch dip. Notice the chocolate theme- that’s a hint if I ever did see one.

Now, you know Tricia’s Musings is located in the Great White North don’t ya?

Yes, the Mackenzie brothers, Bob and Doug, have promised to make an appearance so I guess I’d better make sure we have lots of good Canadian beer on hand. Oh and the guys from Rush should drop by to entertain us too.

Here’s Bob and Doug for ya from their movie Strangebrew:

However, one reason why I wanted you to know that this party is in the Great White North is because I’ve gone to a lot of work to change my garden into an icy party palace:

And of course you can’t have an ice garden party without an ice bar!

Absoluteice absoluteicebar

I know that some of you come from warm climates. Don’t worry, the party will be indoors and out. Of course the bar is going to be outside so you can enjoy your vodka and other drinks nice and cool, but feel free to come back inside to warm up.

So bring warm clothes. Maybe we’ll hold a contest to see who wins for best fashion parka. But don’t forget to bring your bathing suits too! We rented a Hot Tub that you can dip into as well.

Ok what am I missing – we’ve got a band, entertainment, booze, of course we’ll also have juice, water and soft drinks like coke, Pepsi, ginger ale (Canada Dry of course!) root beer, orange, cream soda, and grape, an ice bar, and ice garden and a hot tub. Plus hopefully my guest will bring some food and drink as well.

Chris, my husband will bring out his guitars and our keyboard and we’ll have some of his music plus maybe a sing along too.

Is there anything else we need before the party starts?

If you’re coming to the party please tell us how you first discovered Tricia’s Musings and how long ago that was. Oh and feel free to bring stories, photos or video of Tricia or Tricia’s musings doing embarrassing things. Tricia’s going to be well medicated at the party so she won’t mind.

Update: wow, it’s been a great party! Hugh Laurie is streaking through the garden, Rush is still playing and the Bare Naked Ladies are entertaining the crowd inside the house too. A few people have been here all day and they’ve been drinking all day too, so now we have people dancing on the ice bar and diving into the Hot tub! It’s been fun!

Thanks for coming to Tricia’s Musings blogaversary party!
