My garden in the summer

Alright, you can see pics of my pseudo ice garden above. Are you having fun at the blog party? I hope you are! Have some champagne!

Now that you know what my garden looks like in the winter when I do it up as an ice garden *wink *wink I thought I’d show you what it looks like in the summer.

These photos are a few years old. My garden is much more mature now and the plants average at least four feet tall:

Bird on a Wire

This weeks theme is Wild

I caught this common bird, a House Sparrow I think, sitting on the electric wire in my backyard this summer.

Fluffing the feathers:

bird on wire

We keep bird feeders in the garden, and even though we didn’t fill them that much this past year we’ve always had lots of different birds in the yard. Everything from golden finches to sparrows, Blue Jays, crows, and grackles frequent my yard. I grow a lot of flowers that birds like so, other than the bird feeders, perhaps that’s why they enjoy our yard.

Smart cat and dog team

January 20, 2007 by Tricia

OMG you’ve got to watch this video!

This has to be the smartest cat and dog team that I’ve ever seen.

It’s a commercial for dog and cat food and the animals do something ingenious with the food in order to protect their home.

I wonder how on earth they trained them to do this:

I really need new contacts

January 19, 2007 by Tricia

I keep saying that I’m going to get new contacts and I keep forgetting about it. Well, I suppose that the price of contact lenses has also been a factor since I’m home sick and don’t have much income coming in.

When I have a little bit more money saved up, and or coming in I think that I’ll order contact lens online as the prices I’ve been seeing are so much cheaper than what I’d pay at my local optometrists office or at a store that specializes in glasses and contact lenses.

One site that I’ve bookmarked is Discountcontactlenses.com. I keep visiting the site, and of course have yet to buy lenses from them, and I see deals for different types of contact lenses each time I visit the site.

Right now they have sales on their Acuvue lenses and the CIBA Focus brand of lenses. The Acuvue have a $30 rebate, and the Ciba Focus lenses have a rebate that’s for as much as $50. My brand is the the Focus Night and Day lenses and right now if I were to buy some new lenses I could get the Focus Night and Day the fantastic price of $36.39 per box if I bought four boxes.

I’ve really got to get working on saving the money to buy these new lenses. I really need them as my other contacts are so very old I don’t feel comfortable wearing them anymore.

If you are a contact lens wearer you should check on the great deals at Discount Contact Lenses and order contact lens from them.

Your kind words

January 19, 2007 by Tricia

Thanks for your support!

I’ve had a number of people leave positive comments on this site and on my gardening blog regarding the problems I discussed in my Thursday Thirteen.

I’ve had a terrible week with my pain. Actually I suppose you could say I’ve had a terrible year so far, and people commenting on my posts and tell me that they could be offensive or calling me an idiot just got to me. Normally this kind of stuff really wouldn’t bother me all that much, but when combined with how lousy I’m feeling, and the pain I’m in it just really brought me down.

I actually considered just trashing me sites and forgetting about blogging all together.

None of the people that have left distasteful comments in the past week have been regular readers.

Believe me, if one of my regular readers told me that something I posted was offensive I’d be more likely to believe them and it’s also likely that they, knowing me and having read my site would possibly have an idea of my character and what kind of person and I am, would not likely tell me such a thing in a way that would be nasty. It would likely come out as constructive criticism.

Either way, these are my sites. I’m going to write what I want, post what I want and do as I please. I want my regular readers to stay with me and read my posts so it’s not likely that there will be any major change in my posting style. I’m sure my regular readers know that I would never knowingly or purposely post something that I thought would offend. I’m just not that kind of person and I’m sure you, my regular reader, knows that.

Anyway, I just wanted to thank my friends for their support. It means a lot. Thank you.
