Thirteen Things about Great Sites I’ve Visited Recently I’ve come across some great sites recently and I thought I’d take a moment and give you a short description each site. 1…. Jessie from Hunna’s Happenings has the most adorable photo of her niece up for yesterdays WW. I enjoy reading all of her posts. She writes in an easy friendly style that makes you want to just keep on reading. Jessie also started the Postie Carnival that’s open to all members of Pay/perp0st. Carnivals are a great way of getting new visitors to your site, and finding new sites to enjoy. 2…. I think that Chris from the Thermal blog might be becoming a regular reader on some of our sites, and as a result I’ve been checking out his site too. Chris’ site is fantastic. He’s got a mix of helpful advise, pointing his readers to sites that will help them with their own sites, fantastic photos, and some amusing posts. He balances out his posts really well -a few helpful posts followed by something light hearted. Good work Chris. Oh and before I forget it looks like Chris started another blog about a month ago and it’s called Blog-Op – tons of great website and internet related info on that site. Check them out. 3…. SubDlerium is a site about the day to day life of a student, still living at home with the parental units. This site is pretty new having just started in December. It will be interesting to see how it develops over the next few months. 4…. Lisa, from My Thoughts, Ideas and Ramblings is, I believe, a stay at home mom. She talks about family life on her blog, and spreads some love here and there through out her community of blogging friends. I like her writing style, and I enjoy her posts on the pay/perp0st forums too. She has some good one liners from time to time. 5…. A links blog is a great site. Just as it’s title says it’s a blog that will not only list your link in the side bar, but will make a short post about your blog. Right now they are asking people to write about the site in the hopes that more people will come along and list their sites. Sounds like a good deal to me! Check it out. 6…. Oseas Adelso is described by Oseas as “Just a simple, multi-media blog where I’ll show significant (and insignificant) events of my somewhat average life.” He’s a University student that I’ve met through my work with Pay/perp0st and he seems to be a very nice guy. He’s got a post on his site about the new iPhone that’s really cool. 7…. Arts a fellow Canadian and he named his site “We were the cool kids” I really enjoy his writing style – It’s a little sarcastic, but humorous at the same time no matter what he’s talking about. Poor guy hurt his eye when his glasses broke. 8…. Jeremy from Haunted House Dressings Just had a horror story published over at Chiaroscuro. It’s really good! Go read his scary story and then visit his site and let him know what you thought of it. 9…. Osman tagged me to write up my five favorite movies a few days ago. I hate to admit this but I don’t watch many movies. I can partially blame my husband for this because he just hates going to movie theaters, however he can’t take all the blame. We do have a vcr, a dvd player and all the movie channels in our full cable package. LOL Ok so I just don’t watch movies! So how about we call this movies I’ve enjoyed over the years? Jaws, Pirates of the Caribbean (I still haven’t seen the new one!), The Shinning, Matrix and Falling Down (older Michael Douglas Movie). Osman, who tagged me for the five favorite movie meme has a nice little site himself. He’s a University student living at home and also trying to make a bit of extra money on pay/perp0st. That’s where I met a number of the bloggers I’m highlighting today. You should go and see his Wordless Wednesday post – what a beautiful photo. 10…. Another site that I’ve been enjoying is The BenSpark I go there to see what the photo of the day is, and to catch up what’s happening in his life. He’s another blogger who’s style of writing I enjoy. Oh, and I like his photo a day so much that I’ve even put a banner highlighting his photo of the day in my left sidebar. Do you see it? 11…. I think that’s more than 13 sites now! Hopefully I didn’t miss anyone that I said I’d spread some bloggy love to. Please dear visitors, if you’ve read this far visit a few of the sites I’ve listed. You’ll like them. I know you will. 12…. I’m still feeling like cr*p. Remind me to start to go to bed on time? My messed up sleep cycle is really making me even sicker. I’m thinking of finding some way to just knock myself out for two or three days in a row. Maybe that will reset my body and kill the pain that I’m in. 13…. Finally finished! I am going to bed now! Goodnight, good day, and happy Thursday to you. Links to other Thursday Thirteens! |
I’ll never be rich
Do you ever wonder who the richest people in the world are? I got into a conversation with a friend the other day, and I can’t remember exactly how it started but we ended up talking about not just millionaires, but billionaires. Do you know how much money a billion dollars really is? I was being silly and I tried to look up how much space a billion dollars would take to store but I couldn’t come up with an answer. My guess is that it would probably fill my house.
Bill Gates is, of course, the worlds richest man with an estimated 46 billion dollars according to a 2004 list of billionaires that I found. I guess he’s probably worth even more now. Can you imagine having that much money? I’d be happy to have a spare $50,000. Then there’s guys like George Lindemann Jr. who only had 1.2 billion dollars in 2004. Poor in comparison to a man like Bill Gates. Actually Lindemann was number 494 on the list of 2004 billionaires. Can you imagine that with 1.2 billion dollars in your name that there are still 493 people who are even richer than you?
It’s just mind boggling!
If I earn, let alone have 1 million dollars in the bank in my life time it will be a miracle. Doesn’t that just make you feel so poor? Billions and billions of dollars and here we are struggling to pay the bills.
Staying Safe in our home
As some of you might remember I’ve talked about Chris and I getting some form of home security for our home. We first started discussing it when we purchased our house- in part because our home insurance rates will drop a bit, and also because my husband is/ was very paranoid about break ins. Lately I’ve become a bit more nervous about break-ins or rather home invasions since there have been a few occurrences in my general area in the last few months.
So, I’ve been looking at ADT Home Security Systems and I came across a system at ADT Security that looks pretty good to me. The company has a good reputation, and their home security products seem to do everything that I’d want out of a home security system.
ADT security is actually a home security service, they offer their home security system free, but you need to sign on to their service to get the free system and all the benefits of having a security service keeping an eye on your home.
One thing that I like is that you not only get home protection with the alarm system but you also get fire a built in fire alarm system that notifies the security service if the fire alarm is triggered. This is an excellent idea. They’re already sending the fire department to your home leaving you to get your family out of the home while help is already on it’s way. There is also a police response service as well – if there’s trouble in your home, or an alarm is triggered the police are notified by ADT.
They also offer a money back guarantee if you believe their alarm system doesn’t work with 100% effectiveness. Plus you can customize your security needs with ADT in order to make sure that you have the home security system and service that you need.
My parent had a similar system in their home and they loved it. I really think that a full home security system and service such as this is what we’ll most likely decide to get to protect our home.
Hey pal are you ok

It’s an Honor!
I just found out a few hours ago that I was nominated in a couple of Categories for the 2007 Bloggie Awards. Thank you so much Anita!
Anita from Say No to Crack was a doll and nominated Tricia’s Musings for Best Canadian Blog, Best Design, and most Humorous. I’m not sure that I have a chance at any of those categories because there’s a lot of fantastic blogs out there, but as the title implies it is an honor to be nominated.
Nominations end today at 10 pm. I’m not sure which time zone that is unfortunately.
You can only nominate your favorite sites once, so if you haven’t already what are you waiting for? Go get your votes in now.
I went and made my choices already. Then I visited some of the sites I nominated and let them know. I haven’t got around to everybody that I gave the nod to yet though, so if you didn’t hear from me it doesn’t mean that I didn’t nominated you.
I noticed that one of the categories is Best Topical Blog. If anyone is going to nominate sites would you consider perhaps putting my Gardening blog As the Garden Grows into that category? I might actually have a chance at that one. 🙂
Ah, just found out that Mrs. Lifecruiser nominated my gardening site as well as Tricia’s musings for the Bloggies too! Thank you!
