It was my sister in laws birthday on the 18th. She turned 40.
Not this weekend, but the next a mutual friend of ours is going to have a surprise birthday party for my sister in law. She even went so far as to send out invitation – even sent one to Chris’ brother in Chicago and he’s planning on coming to the party! Since he doesn’t fly I think it’s quite a distance to drive just for a birthday party, but he’s like that and that’s another story in itself.
Not only is our friend having a surprise birthday party for Chris’ sister, but this weekend she’s taking my sister in law and her husband on a weekend Bahamas cruise! That’s also a surprise.
I can’t believe she bought four tickets (her husband is going too of course) for a cruise!
I imagine it was a special package deal. I was curious as to how much it might cost to fly to say Miami and then go on a weekend cruise – for four so I visited the travel club that my husband and I joined when we got our package deal to Las Vegas and looked at what kind of prices they had for their cruises. The lowest price that I could find for airfare and four people on one of the big cruise lines in the cheapest cabins offered was about $3500 in total!
Wow. I sure hope our friend got an even lower price than that. Still it must have cost something close to that.
Now why can’t our friends give Chris and I special surprise parties or buy us trips too?
Our friend has surprise parties or big dinner parties for Chris’ sister or her husband every year and of course we’re always invited. My only problem with the whole deal is that whenever it’s my brother in laws special party – it’s alway either on my birthday or the same week as my birthday .. uh what about me? LOL Or … Chris’ sister’s birthday is only four days before Chris and I’s wedding anniversary but other than an invite to the party our special day is forgot.
We’re all very close friends too. I just think it’s a little strange.
