It’s Chris’ birthday today.
He’s not here though!
Last night he drove to his hometown of Brantford Ontario because his brother and nephew were coming in from Chicago.
I heard from him at around 3 pm today when they were in Guelph. Chris’ nephew is here to go to hockey camp but there’s been a mess up with the schedule. He’ll be having his lessons and playing in the evenings and that kind of messes up Chris’ sisters schedule. She was going to have our nephew stay at her home and get him to camp every day, but the schedule change threw a bit of wrench into the family plans for the week.
I don’t know what solution they’ve come up with, but I do know that Chris ended up in Kitchener- where his sister and her husband lives and that they had a barbecue.
Chris called me at a little after 8 pm. He’s on his way home but he was calling to ask me what the weather was supposed to be like because all of a sudden the sky’s looked “really weird”. Turns out he’s driving through an area that was due to possibly have a tornado go through it at around 8:30.
He was already on the road and driving away from the Tornado area when I started to suggest that he drive back to his sisters and make sure that he and everyone else was safe. He’s continuing on his way.
I haven’t heard from him since he called a little more than half an hour ago, but I’ve got the weather channel on and they aren’t reporting that a tornado touched down yet so hopefully he’s safe.
I wish that he’d come home earlier like he was supposed to!
We’re expecting severe thunderstorms and hail at any time here in Toronto so he could be driving into another area of severe weather.
I ran outside after he called and took our umbrella off our patio table (hurt my back doing it too!) and made sure the plants that I haven’t put in the ground yet are safe and secure.
We can have some pretty severe storms here in Southern Ontario – particularly after we’ve had a very hot day, and today was a hot one. It was supposed to get up to 34 Celsius or so but with the humidity would feel well into the 40’s – that’s 106 + for those that don’t know the metric system.
Keep your fingers crossed would you that Chris gets home safe?
Oh BTW I know I’m behind in getting my Photo Hunters and Green Thumb Sunday posts up – but they’re coming. Well, unless a storm knocks the power out!
