A soon to be extinct Human form

November 25, 2006 by Tricia

One of the Canadian television shows that I enjoy watching is This hour has 22 minutes. Each week they do spoof of the top news stories and often put a uniquely Canadian spin on it.

The video below has a Canadian theme to it- but it’s about something that is happening all over North America, and possibly other parts of the world as well. The Canadian part is that it’s a spoof of a commercial that aired back in the 70’s called Hinter Land Who’s Who – put out by Environment Canada’s Wildlife Services. The 60 second commercials talked about Canadian Wildlife. I remember a lot of Hinter Land commercials about Loons, Owls, deer and Moose.

This one, however is a little bit different. It’s about a type of human that is slowly becoming extinct:

PMS Survival tips for men

November 24, 2006 by Tricia

Gentlemen…

Do we women confuse you on a regular basis? Does your confusion or even fear heighten on certain days of the month? Are you afraid to open your mouth to answer one of our persistent questions? Perhaps you lock yourself away in a room and hide for two or three days each month?

Am I warm?

If I am, then I’ve found an instructional video on how to not handle us during this time of the month.

My take on this is that if you follow these instructions you’ll probably end up getting yourself into more trouble than if you crawl under a desk and hide.

Make a Celebrity Turkey

November 24, 2006 by Tricia

So … my American friends, did you have a great Thanks Giving day? Did you stuff yourself with Turkey and other goodies? I bet you did.

Or were you one of the unlucky ones that had to work? As a nurse I often end up working on holidays and I know how that can just suck – especially if most of your relatives are out of town. You just can’t make it when that happens.

Well, whether you are sitting bloated with turkey in front of your computer, or all by yourself because you couldn’t celebrate the big day – I have a treat for you. Aren’t I nice?

You have to see this video that I just found. It’s a parody video of an Access Hollywood report describing how celebrities spend Thanks Giving and how to make a Turkey like a celebrity.

How did you like that one?

Detect the speed of moving objects with a radar detector

November 24, 2006 by Tricia

Do you use a radar detector when you’re driving? Did you know that you could use radar detectors for other things?

If you are the coach of a junior baseball team you could use a radar detector to figure out the speed of the ball; or if your watching sports events – racing, running, swimming for example you could used them to detect the speed of a particular racer.

I bet a number of you didn’t think of those uses did you? We can’t use radar detectors here in Canada when we’re driving, well not in Ontario anyway, because they are illegal – and the fine is higher for having one than the speeding ticket would be. However, I do know a lot of Americans who swear by their radar detectors and I thought you might be interested in visiting OpticSale.com to see their line of radar detectors.

As I said they have several different types of radar detectors – sports, motion radar, radar scramblers and so own by well known companies. Check the site out if you are interested in looking at their line of radar detectors.

Bad things come in three’s

November 23, 2006 by Tricia

You think you’re having a bad day? Really?

Tell me about one of your worst days – nothing tragic – more along the lines of a day where everything went wrong. A day that felt like it would never end, but one that, now that it’s over, you look back on and you can actually laugh about it because it really was kind of funny or ridiculous.

One of my funny bad day memories happened when I was about 10 years old. I had come to Toronto with my parents for my brothers wedding. On that day my sister and her boyfriend took me out shopping in downtown Toronto. My aunt was going to meet me at a bus stop and then I’d get a drive with my aunt and uncle to a suburb of the city (Richmond Hill) where my parents would be waiting in a the hotel for me. We were then going to get ready and go to the church to attend my brothers wedding.

Well the shopping trip with my sister and her boyfriend turned out ok, but it went down hill from the time I got off the bus. My sister had stayed on the bus to return to her home. I was to get off and wait for my aunt to meet me on the corner. She never came. I called my uncles house but there was no answer. Now remember I’m a 10 year old kid, standing on a street corner all by myself in a very big city that I’m unfamiliar with. I started to get scared.

I kept trying to call my sister and eventually got her but for some reason she couldn’t come back to get me. I think she had to have her hair done for the wedding since she was in the wedding party. She must have called my parents or my brother though, because about an hour and a half after I’d gotten off the bus my brothers car pulled up. He’d driven for 40 minutes or so to come and rescue me and it was his wedding day!

Ok I guess that’s not that funny a story when I look back on it – but I can laugh a bit about it now. Everything that happened was all because of miscommunications. I think it was really my aunts fault that I didn’t get picked up as I should have been, but my sister was the one that got blamed in the end.

As bad as my day was it doesn’t compare to this guys bad day:

Owwwwwwwww!!!!
