Did I say I hated shopping?
Well that’s still true for the most part, but for one of the first times in a long while I was actually a very successful shopper. I gotta complain about shopping more often. It seems to have brought me some luck.
But then again, maybe it was winning Matt’s contest? Whohoooo! Thanks again Matt and everyone else who played the game.
We went to Winners first. Are you familiar with that store? It “supposedly” carries designer brand name clothes at a discount. Sometimes the clothes have small flaws but they are usually barely noticeable or very easily fixed. Most of the time I don’t have much luck there as the clothes are picked over so fast. You have to go through everything to find your size.
Anyway, I got lucky. I found about 6 dresses worthy of trying on. In the end I decided to buy two of them. One is a sapphire blue with tie around the neck straps, princess waistline – kind of like a Marylin Monroe style dress. It’s beautiful. Very sexy. The second dress is black, not quite as fun since it’s more formal. Both dresses are very nice and I got them for less than $100! I had been expecting to pay at least twice that if not more for one dress (at any store, not necessarily Winners). I also purchased a very nice tan trench coat at another store. It was on sale too!
Now here’s a question for the ladies. Ok, men can answer too but I think the women might have more experience here.
Since the new dress has a very low back and ties up at the neck I obviously can’t wear a normal bra. I do have a couple strapless bras but I’ve always found them uncomfortable – either too tight or sliding down just when you least expect it. I did purchase a new strapless bra, which as my luck holds, turns out to be surprisingly comfortable. Go figure. I’m still not sure if a strapless bra will work since the back is low.
I also purchased some of those stick on breast cups. Has anyone tried these? They are the breast cups of a bra but without the straps and band. Just the cups. You stick them on with adhesive tape. If you’ve tried something like this before how well did it work? I’m worried about having a Janet Jackson moment or something similar.
I have a problem with adhesive as well. If I cut myself and need to wear a band-aid, my skin usually reacts to the adhesive on the band-aid. Even the hyper allergenic ones. This was a lot of fun when my chin/jaw injury was healing. I asked the sales clerk if anyone had mentioned having skin problems after using the stick on breast cups and she hadn’t heard any complaints. Of course not. Actually I don’t think anyone had ever asked her that question before.
If I decide to wear the blue dress on Saturday to my nieces wedding I can just picture my taped up skin slowly becoming red and itchy, oh so itchy. It might ruin the effect of my sexy new dress if I’m sitting there wiggling around and rubbing my boobs. Maybe I’ll do a test run tomorrow?
I’d love to hear your experiences if you’ve used stick on breast cups. Did they do the job? Did they fall off? Whatever you can tell me would be great.
