Personalize your posts and e-mail with a signature

March 28, 2007 by Tricia

livesignature.jpg

I think that most people try to personalize the e-mail that they send in some way. Often people will add their name and possibly a link to their website to the end of the e-mail that they are sending. In fact, most e-mail programs can be set up to do this automatically.

Wouldn’t it be nice to make your email signature even more personal? Well you can with My Live Signature. In fact, you can use the signature that you create on Mylivesignature.com in your e-mail, forum posts, blog posts, website, and documents.

I suppose that pretty much anywhere that you can attach or embed an image you could use your personal “MyliveSignature” image.

You can create an imitation of your signature using the signature creation wizard. The creation wizard is completely free to use. All you have to do is register for a free account on the MyLiveSignature site.

Using the signature creation wizard I typed in “Tricia P.”. Yes, my last name is probably easy enough to find, but for now we’ll just go with the initial for my last name. I was then taken to a page that listed examples of Tricia P. written in different font styles. I was given over 100 choices of styles.

I could chose from styles that were in very ornate, or old English style font or ones closer to true hand writing or printing. I’m left handed and I was pleased to see that some of the signature styles had the appearance of being written by a lefty.

I picked a signature that was close enough to my own handwriting style, and then clicked on the “next” button at the end of the page. On the next page I picked the size of the signature that I wanted, and after that I picked the color of the signature.

I was surprised, and pleased, to find that I still had more choices to make. The fourth step in the Signature creation wizard was to select the “Slope” or angle of the signature. I chose one on a slight slope to give it a more hurried and authentic look.

The final step was to simply name the file. When I clicked finished the file was saved as I’d named it “triciap” and I could access it from a menu on the left side of the page by selecting “Use my Signature”.

When I clicked on “Use my Signature” I was taken to a page that gave me a choice of HTML or BB code. I picked HTML code and was given two more choices as to how I wanted the final signature to look and then I generated the code.

Here’s the signature file that I created:

Isn’t that cool?

The MyLiveSignature.com site has a tutorial that you can go through to see all of the options you can use while creating a signature.

They also offer a service where you can submit an image of your actual signature and their designers will create a MyliveSignature” file of your real signature. If you’d like to use your real signature they have two options and the prices range from $9.95 for a scanned image, to $19.95 for an animated image. You can get 20% off the price of an animated signature right now.

I like how easy it was to create a signature file. You can easily create new signatures in different styles or colors to suit the site or document that you wanted to use them in.

I can see signature files from MyLiveSignature.com being used on blogs all over the world to give posts a personal touch.

Ashley Tisdale – Live chat on the Cartoon Doll Emporium

March 25, 2007 by Tricia

Any parents reading this site should take note that pop princess and Disney Star Ashley Tisdale will be appearing on the Cartoon Doll Emporium’s chat forum for a live discussion on April 2nd between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. EST. Your kids will absolutely adore you if you tell them about Ashley’s special appearance.

Actually this week on the Cartoon Doll Emporium there will be a contest. Ashley Tisdale fans can submit questions for Ashley. The best questions will be chosen and given to Ashley to answer during her online live chat session. The fans names will be mentioned when their questions are asked too.

If you still aren’t quite sure who Ashley Tisdale is, she stars in Disney’s “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody” and the movie “High School Musical”. She’ll also appear in the the sequel to High School Musical – High School Musical 2 when it’s released later this year.

I actually really like the Cartoon Doll Emporium. It’s one of those dress up games sites where you can create different dolls by dressing them up in different outfits and using different accessories for them. Kids love to spend time on sites like the Cartoon Doll Emporium and many adults do too as it’s a great place to create new avatars for online chats and forums.

You’ll find over 650 dress up games on the site. You’ll also be able to play arcade games, participate in quizzes too. There’s even a music section and a “cuteness” section.

Check out the site for your own use, and don’t forget to tell your child about Ashley Tisdale’s live chat and the question contest. I’m sure you’ll get good parent points if you do!

Create your own avatar with the doll making game

January 30, 2007 by Tricia

Do you ever wonder how people make avatars to use for the gravatar.com photo in comments, or avatars that are used in forums, and side bars and in some cases even site headers?

It’s not all that hard really. All you need to do is go to a site such as Thedollpalace.com and click on Dress Up Games and start following the instructions to make your very on “doll” that’s dressed exactly the way you want him or her to be.

You can choose from a number of different doll types- Princess, New Emo, Fashion, Angels, Gothic, Celebrity, Halloween, Preps, mermaids, Christmas, Hippies, Thanksgiving, Shuni, Summer and Winter Fairies, Guys, Unique, Christmas and winter, Fairy, Pirates, original, Community, Emoz, Thematic, Babies, Greek Goddess, Diva, Bonita, Glamour, Goth, lolita and Silence doll types. Isn’t that an amazing number of choices that you can select from? If I’m not mistake you can even mix and match between the styles and doll types in order to create your own very unique doll.

A blogger that I know recently had an avatar contest on her site. She had people make up different avatars that she could use to represent her site, or herself on forums, and in chat groups and she recently picked a winner from all the submissions that she had. I can’t remember what her prize offering was, but it was a good one.

You could use an idea like that to get people to participate on your site. Contests are always a great idea on blogs. Anything that gets people interacting more often and visiting your site is always good.

Little girls always like dress up games and I’m sure you could amuse a child easily but setting them in front of the computer and showing them how to use the Dollpalace.com site. In fact you might be surprised at just how good they might be at creating new designs! Before you know it they’ll be hooked on Dollmaker.

Give the site a try. It’s easy to use because everything is drag and drop. It’s kind of fun too!

I could get addicted to these videos

November 3, 2006 by Tricia

As you’ve probably noticed I’ve made a few videos of my own that I’ve posted to the site lately – well Wednesday and Thursday. Did you see them? If you didn’t you should check out my turtle race video – you can see my turtles and hear my voice if you do. Sorry I didn’t make an appearance in that one. Maybe next time. Maybe.

‘ve been using my digital camera to make the videos. It’s really easy. I just make the video, upload it onto my computer, then I open up Windows movie maker import the video into it, do a bit of editing and ta da! I can upload it to youtube for all to see. I can’t do this as easily with any videos that I’ve made with my cellphone. It saves the videos into a format with the extension 3gp. Windows Movie maker doesn’t accept that file type. I have to use another program to convert it to avi first. It’s a pain in the ass.

This is opening up new possibilities for me know that I know how easy it is to make videos. Stay tuned you might start to see some crazy stuff here. LOL

Oh and if anyone knows of any easy to use programs that convert 3gp video to avi or mpeg I’d love to hear about it. Thanks.

Pain Pain go AWAY!

August 22, 2006 by Tricia

I feel like crap.

Fever, Chills, abdominal pain, bad, bad abdominal pain.

I’ve been feeling really off since the two Weddings a week and a half ago. I guess four long days of activities were just too much for me. However, on Tuesday I felt the worst that I’ve felt in a several months and I still feel that bad.

Have you ever had a pain so bad that you just wish that you could cut off the part that’s hurting? Say your leg, your knee, your wrist? Well, I’ve got a pain in my stomach right now that feels like a hand reaching just below my right ribs, as if it’s trying to rip and organ out. The pain in my lower right side feels like someones kicking me and stabbing me at the same time.

When the pain gets this bad I sometimes wish I could cut out the painful parts. Yeah, that would help for oh, about a minute, until I either bled to death or until the pain from the wounds set in. So, no, I wouldn’t do that, but I sometimes wish it were that easy to make it go away.

I have pain medication, and I’ve been taking it, but when the pain gets this bad it just doesn’t help. It doesn’t even knock me out so that I can try to sleep through it.

What really sucks about this is that I’m supposed to be going out of town on Friday for the weekend. We’re supposed to go to Chicago to see Bruce Cockburn play in a small venue on Saturday night. We’ve got some friends going with us so I guess if I end up not going Chris will be ok with the drive, but I wanna go. I’ve never been to Chicago. I know I won’t be there for long, but I want to see whatever I can see while I’m there.

I’ve also been meaning to write a number of posts for all of my blogs so that things will keep moving along here while I’m away (see positive thoughts – I’m writing as If I’m going right?). Unfortunately, I just haven’t felt up to writing.

I do have a nice series of photos on Breath of Life right now that I’ve set up to automatically post each day for the next two weeks. This weeks series is photos of Toronto’s Kensington Market. It’s a very interesting place to visit, and I managed to get some great shots while I was there the Saturday before last. I’d love it if you would check out the daily photos and let me know what you think of them.

I’ve also been busy over the last few days working on a new theme for Odd Planet and creating a new home for it too. Krome, formerly of Kromes Obsession, and now from Sugar Vamp and I’ll Dream, had offered to create a new WordPress site for me some time ago. I had been thinking of taking her up on her offer in order to create a collaborative site that I’d been discussing with a few interested parties, but over the weekend when I got it in my head to move Odd Planet, I decided to contact Krome and ask her to do a theme for Odd Planet. She said she would, but she wanted me to hunt for photos or pictures that I would want to use in the theme myself so that I’d be happy with the results.

Well, I went hunting for pictures to use in the theme and the next thing I knew I was designing Odd Planets new home myself. Now I’m in the process of moving all the posts from the original site to the new site. I hope to have it done before the weekend, as I’d like to be able to set up some posts to automatically post while I’m playing in Chicago. Playing – yeah right, that’s hard to believe with the way I’m feeling now. Anyway, if you’d like to check out what I’ve been up to visit Odd Planets new home and let me know what you think. The sidebar isn’t sitting right if you look at it in Internet Explorer, but it’s working for all the rest of the browsers.

I’m off to take another pain pill in the hopes that this one works. Wish me luck!
