Is J Lo becoming a Scientologist?

It’s starting to look like J. Lo might be on her way to becoming a Scientologist. She and her husband Marc Anthony have been cozying up to Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes. Could they be preparing to become the latest recruits? There’s even been rumors that Victoria and David Beckham might heading towards scientology too.

J. Lo’s father has been a Scientologist for more than 20 years, according to Perez Hilton.

“It’s weird people want to paint Scientology in a negative way,” she says. “It’s just sad that people would look at it in that way.”

Jennifer is Catholic but then so was Katie. I guess we’ll have to wait and see if major spiritual changes are underway, but with a statement like that it sure seems like she’s interested in Scientology doesn’t it?

Paula Abdul woman of the year?

Paula Abdul has been named woman of the year by the Nevada Ballet Theatre. Huh? Have they been watching TV in the last week or listening to the news? She’s been doing some pretty whacky stuff.

During her acceptance speech Paula decided to do a little comedy by poking fun at a strange pre-Idol inteview with a local Seattle TV station earlier this month. Yes, that’s the whackiness to which I was referring … “Don’t ever give a swivel stool to someone who’s very hyper and active because I will spin and spin and spin.”

“I couldn’t do it without the three men in my life,” she said of fellow Idol stars Randy Jackson, Simon Cowell and Ryan Seacrest, who flanked her. “Every time Randy Jackson opens up his mouth, I look like a Nobel Prize winner. Every time Simon Cowell opens his mouth, Borat sounds like a Nobel Prize winner….. Ryan, I really do love him; almost as much as he loves himself ï¿½..These three brothers are the best thing a girl can hope for, just ask my therapists.”

That was some acceptance speech there Paula.

Angelina Jolies mother has died

On Saturday, Marcheline Bertrand, the mother of Angelina Jolie passed away at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

Bertrand, 56, had battled cancer for over 7.5 years. She was surrounded by her children, Angelina and her son James Haven, as well as Brad Pitt when she died.

“Marcheline was beautiful, caring and totally devoted to her children. I never saw her upset or sad, even after she was diagnosed with cancer,” Lea Hunter, who once dated Haven, tells PEOPLE. “She always treated me like a member of her family.”

Marcheline Bertrand had her two children with Oscar winning actor Jon Voight, but raised the two kids alone after the divorce. She had many small roles in movies, including 1983’s “The Man who Loved Women”.

She was overjoyed with her granddaugher Shiloh was born last May and she told People Magazine “My heart is overflowing with joy with the new arrival of Brad and Angelina’s third child. Maddox, Zahara and Shiloh are deeply loved children. They have very kind and caring parents who love and support each other in every way.”

A private funeral will be planned, but at this time there is no word when the memorial will take place. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers or gifts that donations be made to the Women’s Cancer Research Institute at Cedars-Sinai.

John and Jessica in Florida

John Mayer and Jessica Simpson are obviously still together and enjoying some free time while they are in the sunny State of Florida.

The couple will be in Florida for the next two and a half weeks.

John has had performances in Jacksonville, Miami and Orlando and will wrap up the Florida portion of his tour in Pensacola Monday night. Once he’s finished in Forida he’ll continue his tour in Baton Rouge, Fayetteville, Memphis, Oklamhoma City, Huntsville, knoxville, Roanoke and Columbia.

Jessica is set to perform with Willie Nelson at a Dallas Fundraiser on Feb. 10th at the Nokia Theater.

I still don’t understand why these two are together. Does anyone else find them to be an odd couple? I wonder if it’s just a way for them to promote each others tours?

Jennifer Aniston – Did she or didn’t she?

Rumor has it that Jennifer Aniston had a nose job on January 20th.

Rumor also has it that Aniston placed several calls to Dr. Raj Kanodia’s office to express her anger with his interview in US Weekly for an article entitled “Jen’s Secret Nose Job”.

The magazine is claiming that Jen underwent rhinoplasty at the dr’s office on the 20th of January.

Kanodia wouldn’t confirm that he performed the surgery in the disputed article, but he did go on to explain rhinoplasty.

Jennifer Anistons representative said that Aniston wasn’t upset with Dr. Kanodia, and wasn’t angry with him on the phone. Note that the rep didn’t say that calls were not made.

Dr. Raj Kanodia is said to be the doctor that did work on Ashlee Simpson and Cameron Diaz.
