Chasing the Stars?

by Tricia

Anyone planning on traveling in the new year? The award season is coming up – I know that you probably won’t be able to get in to attend the People Choice Awards, or Golden Globes but if you planned a trip to L.A. at just the right time you’d be in town when all the stars were there for the award show and you could do some fantastic star sight seeing.

Alright maybe you aren’t planning a trip to visit all of the areas that your favorite celebs hang out, but maybe you’re planning a Caribbean vacation or a holiday somewhere warm so that you can get away from the cool winter weather sometime between now and spring? Yes, I bet that’s more likely.

Have you booked your hotel accommodations yet? If you haven’t then I must urge you to check out HotelReservations.com. They have accommodation listings for hotel, condo, and other vacation properties from all over the world. Just go to the site, type in the place you are going, and type in the dates that you need to have rooms for, and a page will come up listing all of the available hotel rooms or other types of lodgings for that time period. The prices they list are very reasonable, much better than you can get by cold calling and trying to book rooms. If you like the accommodations that are listed just go right ahead and book your Hotel Reservations right then and there.

I’ve already bookmarked HotelReservations.com and put it in my bookmarks under “travel”. I most definitely will be checking out their site the next time I plan to travel, or even if I’m having a number of relatives come to Toronto to visit. We don’t have a lot of room so some would need to stay in a hotel. At least I could book them rooms at a reasonable price.

Get creative with Filmator

by Tricia

Have you always wanted to make a flashy online presentation something that goes well with your website, or perhaps a presentation that highlights key aspects of your business or a product your company sells or makes? Well now you can with this relatively new way of creating presentations at Filmator.net.

The site touts itself as a creative website for creative people. However it seems it’s never been easier to be creative. Filmator makes it very easy to create presentations, portfolios, videos, animations, documentaries, and new media art. All you need to do to begin creating is first- register for an account, then upload your videos, pictures, sounds and flash films. Organize them in whichever playing sequence that you’d like according to trigger points set in the sound file, and in no time at all you’ll have an online presentation ready to use, quickly and for free.

I have two very large pet information related websites and I’m already beginning to think of ways that I can use Filmator on my sites.

Commercial Filmator.net users are charged, but artists may produce their presentations free. Both business and individuals can quickly make flash demonstration and distribute them worldwide without having to learn a new program or have particular software training. Filmator does all the hard work and makes it easy for you to create your presentation quickly and easily and then embed it on an Internet or Intranet site for viewing.

Here’s an example of one of the videos that can be made at Filmator, this is called “Painting with Sunlight”:

Peace of mind while your kids use Myspace

by Tricia

Here’s the scenerio, you come home everyday from work and your child is on the internet. He or she always seems to close their computer browser quickly whenever you enter the room, but you’ve seen enough to know that they are on Myspace. You’ve heard that myspace is popular with teens and even adults and that it’s a way for them to meet with and talk to their friends online. However, you’ve also heard that a lot of sexual predators hang out on Myspace trying to entice young girls and boys into either exposing themselves online or perhaps meeting them offline somewhere. Your childs’ behavior of hiding whatever he or she is doing online worries you.

What can you do about it?

Well, you could install the award winning Spector Pro monitoring software. This software is apparently the only one of it’s kind that can record every single aspect of activity on Myspace.com, including myspace login and passwords.

With this software you could check to see that your child isn’t putting information online that could endanger themselves or even your family and home. You’ll be able to see everything from the comments they receive to the messages they send out to others.

If you are concerned about your child and want to keep him or her safe while they have fun online think about purchasing Spector Pro.

You can get more information about this product online at their site. Just follow the link listed above.

CompTIA Network Training software

by Tricia

My husband used to work in the IT field, up until just a few years ago when he decide to change careers. I didn’t realize it at first, but when you work in the field of computer technology you are always studying and training because new software and equiptment is constantly coming out. If you slack off you fall behind quickly. That’s why, when I saw the Trainsignal site promoting their Comptia Network+ Training I thought that some of my readers might be interested in learning more about their training software.

With their Comptia Network training software you’ll get 12 hours of network support and administrative training videos to watch and learn from.

The videos are all instructor led, walking you through each detail, step by step. You’ll learn how to configure and administer your own network.

Trainsignal also provides 120 CompTIA network+ exam questions that you can use to prepare for your exam.

With this software you’ll learn troubleshooting models for IP addresses, Disaster recovery methods, Install and configure network protocols and security protocols, troubleshoot network operating systems, lan troubleshooting, and much much more.

The price seems quite reasonable too at just $149.95. Visit Trainsignal and see what they have to offer.
