I’m sure stars don’t have trouble getting loans

by Tricia

I wonder sometimes how musicians, movie and television stars get their big break. I wouldn’t doubt that some of them have borrowed money to get their glam shots done, or make their first cd in order to promote themselves and kick start their careers.

Of course some of the celebs that we clamor over today were just plain lucky by being discovered on the street or in a restaurant and ended up being offered a movie role.

I’m sure those stars never have to worry about things like getting homeowner loans or even Secured Home Loans. Not like we do anyway.

For many of us it’s hard to get a loan. You have to have a good credit rating and a good history of being able to pay back any loans you’ve taken out. You also need to have a job – usually, or at least assets in order to be approved for the loan that you’ve requested.

We’ve thought about getting a Secured Loan just to be able to finish up the renovations on our home. I’m not sure whether we’ll go ahead and apply for one or not since we’re still trying to get all the work done on our own, but it’s something we’ve considered.

If you need a secured loan, or would like to learn more about the different types of secured loans you might try visiting Secured Loans UK where you can get free quotes on over 260 different secured loan products.

I do wonder if the stars ever shop around for the best loans? I bet they don’t have to. What do you think?

I’ll bet celebrities never worry about their mortgages

by Tricia

I often wonder if big time celebrities even have to apply for a mortgage for their home. I suppose they would since most of their homes cost millions and millions of dollars, but if they are a big star they probably could pay the house off in one go couldn’t they?

Their lives are nothing like ours. I think it’s easier these days to get secured loans or a mortgage for a new home, particularly if you have a good broker and or a good credit rating, but I think it’s still harder for regular people like us to get loans than it would be for most celebs.

When we first applied for our mortgage when we were buying our home our bank thoroughly checked out our job history, current income and credit rating. They were doing this to be sure we’d be able to pay back the mortgage. To be on the safe side, we even had to get home insurance and have the house inspected by a special insurance agent before we could finalize our mortgage because they wanted to be sure the house was insured in case of fire or major damage. I mean, if something happened through no fault of our own the bank could still get their mortgage we owned them partially through the home insurance.

Even when we applied to renew or Remortgage our home last year they still went over our current finances to ensure that we’d be able to pay back our mortgage. I think that’s just smart business on their part. I don’t know if all banks are so thorough but ours certainly was.

We really lucked out on our mortgage. We got it when the interest rates were at an all time low, and we kept our payments a little higher than what was required so we actually ended up paying more of our mortgage off. When we renewed we ended up paying a bit more interest but it’s still low enough that it’s manageable and if we work at it we can get ahead and pay it off a bit faster than expected.

Again … I’m sure celebrities don’t have to worry about any of this stuff. Renewals? Interest rates? Yeah, I’m sure they are considered, but I bet not as much as we consider each and ever tiny extra point of interest we have to pay.

What do you think the celebs pay for insurance?

by Tricia

Can you imagine what the cost of car insurance must be for all the Hollywood celebrities with their fancy cars? Many have multiple cars – luxury cars. I can only imagine that the cost of insuring all those cars is probably more than I make in a year.

Same for their home insurance since many of them live in mansion style homes worth millions. We think that our property taxes and yearly home insurance costs are high enough, and our house isn’t worth anywhere near the price of their homes.

I’m sure that with Nicole Ritchie recently being charged with driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol (she admitted to having taken vicodin and smoking some whacky tabacy) that at some point in the future Nicole will be looking to compare car insurance rates, because I’m sure hers will probably end up going up now that she’s been charged with a driving offence.

With so many stars getting in to trouble just driving their cars lately I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a weekly Hollywood insurance news tabloid out there.

What do you think?

A Mint of a credit card

by Tricia

Have you heard of Mint credit cards yet? They’ve been around since 2003, and offer two popular versions of credit cards. One is a standard version, and the other is called the MC2 Card which features a different shape.

mc2_card.jpgInterestingly the MC2 credit card has the bottom right hand corner cut out. This is the first major change to the shape of credit cards in the UK in 37 years.

The mint credit cards offer 0% interest on balance transfers and puchases up until December. That’s amazing isn’t it?

Mint also offers a gift card. The gift card is actually a pre-paid credit card that you can give out as a gift. The recipient can use it just like any other credit card to make purchases at businesses where the Mint credit card is accepted. This would be a great gift for someone who enjoys shopping but is hard to pick just the right gift for.

Other features of Mint credit cards and their service that might interest you are the fact that they offer 24 hour customer service, you can manage your account online, and you can even shop online securely using MINT Secure.

Check out Mint Credit cards if you are thinking of getting a new credit card.
