Totally blown away by Feist – Juno Awards

by Tricia

I’m watching the Juno Awards – that’s Canada’s music awards which are our equivalent to the Grammy’s and Feist is taking a lot of awards.

The Juno’s are held over two days. There was a private dinner ceremony on Saturday night where the bulk of the awards were handed out. Feist pretty much took the big awards – Artist of the year and Song writer of the year.

Other than seeing her perform her song 1234 for the itunes/ ipod commercial on TV I’ve never really seen Feist perform.

I can’t say that anymore! She performed at the Juno’s and totally blew me away. In some ways she reminded me a little bit of Bjork but with a much more mainstream sound. I’d love to go to one of her concerts. I’m sure she’d be a performer worth seeing.

Avril Lavigne also performed at the Junos. She sang Girlfriend. Her backup dancers where sturdy looking girls. It a way it was nice to see more “every woman” type dancers highlighted in an area where usually only the thin and skeletal get to play.

Other big winners at the Juno’s were Finger Eleven for Rock Album of the Year – Them Vs. You Vs. Me.

Here’s the list of Saturday Nights winners. I’ll add the official Sunday night telecasts winners shortly.

One bag’s just not enough!

by Tricia

britney_spears4.jpg

Britney Spears was caught double bagging it on Thursday during a shopping trip in Beverly Hills.

She’s actually carrying two matching Versace purses. One is for her cousin Alli Sims.

Britney is now preparing for the MTV VMAs. She’ll be kicking off the award show with a highly anticipated opening performance.

Designer Gifts – Gifts for any occasion

by Tricia

womangiftbasket.gif Trendy people who enjoy knowing what their favorite stars are up to will enjoy this online store. It’s called Designer Gifts and it has a fabulous selection of gifts to suit any budget or occasion.

I really like how the site is laid out and how easy it is to find what you are looking for. Shopping is a snap too since Designer Gifts accepts all major credit cards and Ships throughout the US and Canada.

We’re getting into Wedding Season now, as well a bridal shower and likely baby shower season too! Designer Gifts have an impressive selection of gifts for women, weddings and babies. Oh, they have gifts for just about anything you can think of whether it be a special occasion, Cheap gifts, Gift ideas for men, for a particular person or to suit the gift givers budget.

One thing that I really like about this site is that you can personalize many of the gift items. A woman planning her wedding might consider choosing from their large selection of gifts that could be personalized to give out to her bridesmaids and others attending her wedding.

The site colors are white, purple and yellow. Naturally the bulk of the content area is white which I’m thankful for as it makes it easy to view the items and read the descriptions. I do like how the title bars across the top of the page and for each section are outlined in a deep purple and the text area of the category descriptions are in purple and yellow text. I think it looks nice. The colors aren’t too bright or flashy. They go together well.

Likewise, the menu is easy to navigate with it’s pop out sub category sections. You can browse the site in a hundred different ways I’m sure.

bracelet.gif The only types of items that I didn’t see listed on the site were perhaps music related gifts – whether it be sounds of nature CDs, music cd’s, or something similar. Likewise, I didn’t see many jewelry items. If Designer Gifts were looking to expand their already huge selection of gift ideas those would be the types of things that I would suggest they look into.

Whoever decides what types of items the online store sells is already doing a fantastic job as every single item that I’ve looked at appears to be both well priced, desirable, and a truly quality item.

Some items that might interest you are gift baskets,
Digital picture frames, Home Decor and Bath and Body items, Kitchen related gifts and their wide selection of candles and candle holders.

I would recommend that you bookmark the Designer Gifts page so that you can browse through it at your leisure. I’m certain that you’ll find a great gift idea for whatever special occasion might be coming up in the near future.

Gorgeous Jewelry Designs

by Tricia

Did you know that I used to be a jeweler? I had my own company working as jeweler to the trade, which means that I made the jewelry that many of you love so very much. I don’t work in the trade anymore but I still know great design when I see it, and I hope to highlight some fine jewelry and trends in fashionable accessories from time to time on this site.

One company that I’ve come across that carries an impressive line of Jewelry from designers such as Gurhan, Vera Want, Doran Isaak, Michael B and Ron Hami is Calvin’s Jewelry.

The site is laid out in a way that allows you to click on tabs for the type of jewelry product that you’re interested in. I appreciate simple layouts such as this. It’s easy to use and very easy to find they style of jewelry that you are looking to purchase.

In their Fashion jewelry section under necklaces I found the most gorgeous saphire pendant necklace. It’s to die for. My birthstone is sapphire so I suppose that’s why I’m so drawn to this lovely pendant. It truly is beautiful.

That’s just one example of the fine jewelry that you’ll find at Calvin’s Jewelry. As I said they have a wide assortment of jewelry ranging from necklaces, rings, engagement rings, pendants, and earrings plus many more items.

If you enjoy high quality jewelry have a look at Calvin’s Jewelry.
