Retro dog

by Tricia

Wordless Wednesday

pic05786

Wow this dogs gone retro! Talk about big hair. The wig does kind of suit the dogs face though doesn’t it?
The big hair reminds me of old television shows or older movies when women all had super poofy perms, afro’s were the rage, and if you’re watching a movie or show from the 80’s both men and womens hair is always teased or fluffed.

What was it about the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s? There were definitely some interesting hair styles back then!

Breaking news about the star of the Best Movie Evah’

by Tricia

Breaking news! Johnny Depp star of Pirates of the Caribbean, the best movie of all time as reported by Timely Magazine, News Week monthly and Interterrestrial current events, has just completed a news conference declaring that he will run for King of North America.

His campaign, set to begin at 11:17 pm this evening, will be filmed 24 hours a day and broadcast live over the internet on kingme.com. For those who can’t continuously watch the internet broadcast there will be a DVD with the greatest cuts of from his campaign. You’ll be able to rent a dvd, a new episode, each week as his 67 day campaign to become king of North America progresses.

A little known fact is that his campaign actually began with the first installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean Trilogy. Play the first movie backwards, at quadruple high speed and you’ll hear all of his campaign promises.

The 20 minute initial campaign speech begins at the end of the movie, and of course ends at the beginning which is why it must be played backwards to see and hear the speech. In his speech, he promises that all forms of taxation will end, and that citizens of his new kingdom will only have to work one day each week. Health care will of course be free to all!

The only thing that some people might not like is that it will be Dress Like a Pirate day 365 days a year from now on. Well, once he becomes King of North America that is. I know I’ll simply love that, but some of you might not. I mean, you have to dress exactly like Jack Sparrow every day. Oh and you’ll have to coordinate your outfit with what the King is wearing each day as well. So if he wears his sword to the left yours must be to the left, If his hair is dread locked yours must be too and so on. You must watch all three of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies in order to comply with each days dress code as it will apparently correspond to the movies in an order that is yet to be revealed.

Punishment for not complying with the “Dress like a pirate” day rules will be severe. Those who fail to pass muster will be taken to an under water cave filled with skeletal ghost pirates. You will then have to battle these scurvy skeletal pirates in order to redeem yourself and get back to the surface world. You will also need to bring back the gold coin that will be assigned to you when you complete your under water underworld mission. Again, you must watch the Pirates of the Caribbean Trilogy in order to learn the secrets that will get you out of this underwater prison. It’s only the best movie Evah’ so why wouldn’t you watch it anyway?

Oh wait … I’ve just heard that Johnny Depp will be campaigning against Interterrestrial movie star Chewbacca for King of North America. This could be a momentous race to watch.

Who new that the best movie ever created in our time would become a lead in to an extraordinary campaign for King of North America by Johnny Depp?

Don’t forget to vote!

GHD Flat Iron Styler – Must have hair product of the year

by Tricia

They say that versatility is the spice of life, and like most women I like to change my look every now and then. I have a natural wave to my hair and I often get compliments on how nice it looks, but sometimes those waves just drive me nuts. My hair tends to get even wavier the longer it gets, or if there’s the tiniest bit of humidity around.

Having said this I know that a lot of women with some wave to their hair feel the same way that I do. Occasionally coveting those with straight hair, just as they admire our natural waves. Isn’t is so true that the grass is always greener on the other side?

Luckily I’ve found a product that I think I might try out, and I’m sure that others with wavy or curly hair might want to purchase this new product as well. It’s a flat Iron, and the new GHD Styler for just £109 at Beautysleuth. This new generation GHD styler is said to be the must have hair product of the year.

I’ve never used a flat Iron before, but since this one won the 2007 InStyle Best Beauty Buy award, it must be a quality flat Iron. I might as well start out with the best. If you are interested in this new flat Iron and decide to purchase it from BeautySleuth.co.UK you’ll also receive £20 of free accessories and free delivery. You can’t beat that!

If you’d like to learn more about this product you can read this press release:

Key features of the New Mk4 GHD Styler include:

* More responsive, deeply sprung ceramic plates that heat up even faster.

* Audible beep lets you know the iron is hot and ready to use.

* Longer, more durable cable has an improved design to reduce potential damage as you style with the iron.

* Auto-adjusting voltage means you can use your iron in any country.

* Safety features including automatic shut off (see below) and a shiver feature that prevents moisture damaging your irons when they have been left in a cold spot overnight.

I almost needed plastic surgery as a child

by Tricia

When I was just a child of 5 years of age I was in a bad car accident. The accident happened on a rainy summer night. This was back in the days when you didn’t have to wear you seat belt in the back of the car – even though my parent always did make us wear seat belts, for some reason I wasn’t wearing mine that fateful evening. Perhaps because I was sleeping in the backseat, maybe I’d asked my dad for permission to take it off when I laid down. I don’t remember now, but I know that if I’d had it on I wouldn’t have been injured.

We were on our way up to the cottage. I was traveling with my father and one of my older brothers. I don’t know why my mom and sister weren’t with us because that was unusual, but they weren’t.

We were driving through a small town and my brother was driving. As I said earlier I was asleep in the backseat of the car. The bridge was narrow and there was only two lanes- one each way. A man, who turned out to be drunk, began driving his car in the wrong lane straight towards our car. My brother couldn’t move over to the opposite lane because of oncoming traffic. All he could do was slow down for the impact.

I must have rolled off the seat and hit my head hard on something. I awoke to the sound of my brother and father yelling. They might have been arguing because I think my brother wanted to get out of the car and beat up the other driver. All that stopped when I sat up and they saw the blood running down my face.

A really nice couple happened to stop to make sure that we were all ok. I don’t know if we’d pulled the cars off the bridge or not … because if we hadn’t I don’t think traffic could have got past us- but someone this car reached us. The lady approached and she saw that I was injured. She offered for her and her family to take me to the hospital while my dad and brother waited for the police and a tow truck.

Now these days no parent would just hand off their young child to strangers, and even then I’m sure my father hesitated but the couple had, oh I don’t know at least three other children in the car and I’m sure that made them look trustable, and in the end they did end up to be very trustworthy as they did take me to the hospital.

My father and brother met me at the hospital and they were there in time to watch and help me get through getting my first ever stitches. I had a huge gash at the top right of my forehead.

Now, being so young at the time of the accident I don’t know exactly how my parents settled with the insurance company regarding the damaged car. I do remember that the car was totaled. The old car had been a Dodge and I think we moved on to Toyota’s for a while after the accident.

I do know that my parents worked with a Car Accident Lawyer to secure some funds in case I needed plastic surgery to repair the scar on my forehead. We got a good sum of money with barely any hassle if I remember correctly. I’m sure the case wasn’t too hard to fight. The other drive was drunk and I was injured. I’m just lucky it wasn’t worse.

The money that had been secured by the lawyer was placed into an account in my name. I never did use it for plastic surgery because, luckily, the scar is right at my hairline and it healed very nicely. Instead I used the money to pay part of my way through college. Nice! I’m sure that if my parents hadn’t have fought for some extra money for my injury that nothing other than money for the damaged car would have been forthcoming. What an irony it would have been had they not and then I ended up having a horrible scar? I’m glad that they did- the money that the lawyer helped them get helped me become a nurse, so the money helped me help others.

Rosie Apologizes

by Tricia

Rosie O’Donnels the queen of Nice? I don’t know after seeing her performance on the view last week when she mockingly spoken in broken English with a Chinese accent. This week she addressed her attempt at humor and made a formal on camera apology.

After running the clip of her offensive performance last December 5th, she said “This apparently was very offensive to a lot of Asian people. So I asked Judy, who’s Asian and works here in our hair and makeup department. I said, ‘Was it offensive to you?’ And she said, ‘Well, kinda. When I was a kid people did tease me by saying ching-chong.’

“So apparently ‘ching-chong,’ unbeknownst to me, is a very offensive way to make fun, quote-unquote, or mock, Asian accents. Some people have told me it’s as bad as the n-word. I was like, really? I didn’t know that.”

She went on to say that she never intended to hurt anyone with her remarks and that she was sorry for those people we felt hurt, but went on to warn that there was a good chance she might do something like that again in the future – Not on Purpose of course.
