Guy Ritchie thinks Madonna’s retarded, but he still loves her

by Tricia

Madonna 3 by David Shankbone

It’s been less than a year since Guy Ritchie and Madonna split up after eight years of marriage, however, in a recent interview with Esquire Ritchie, the director of the upcoming Sherlock Holmes said “And, of course, here you go: I still love her, But she’s retarded, too,”.

He still admires Madonna if the following statement is any indication – “She’s a manifester, if there ever was one,” he says. “First-rate manifester. Madonna makes things happen. Put Madonna up against any 23-year-old, she’ll outwork them, outdance them, outperform them.”

Even though he admires his ex-wife he doesn’t have any of her music on his iPod. Even so, he always thought of Madonna as his wife first, and so did their hometown of London. “Madonna, when she came in here, it was old-school London,” Ritchie says. “No one bothered her. ‘Hello, darling. How are you, darling? What can we get you?’ It was fundamental, old-school. It didn’t matter who she was. She was my wife.”

In the interview he implies that Madonna was partially responsible for his biggest flop as a director due to her part in 2002’s Swept Away in which Madonna starred as a shipwrecked trophy wife. It was a box office disaster!

Ritchie said “My sensibility is accessible. The first two accessible movies I made, Lock, Stock [and Two Smoking Barrels] and Snatch, they are accessible,” he says. “The next two aren’t accessible … Swept Away, which, well, everyone gets confused on, because of Madonna.”

Heath Ledger found dead

by Tricia

Heath Ledger, famous for his role in 2005’s Brokeback Mountain, was found dead earlier this afternoon in his Manhattan residence. He was only 28 years old.

Ledger had a massage appointment scheduled in his Soho apartment and when his housekeeper went to inform him that the masseuse had arrived she found him. He was apparently in his bed and was unresponsive when they tried to shake him. The time was approximately 3:26 pm. 911 was called and by 3:45 pm he had been pronounced dead.

Police don’t suspect foul play but pills were found beside his body so his death might be drug related.

Ledger was last seen in public in London on Saturday on the set of The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.

Ledger has a daughter, Matilda Rose, with Michelle Williams whom he met on the set of Brokeback Mountain in 2005. He and Williams broke up in September, 2007.

I don’t know about you, but I’m shocked by this news.

Cast of Heroes sighted in Toronto

by Tricia

I’ve got my own celebrity scoop here for a change! I really should have posted this on Friday evening or early Saturday morning, but we had our big family reunion this weekend and creating blog posts was simply impossible.

So what’s the scoop? Well, as you might know the cast of Heroes visit cities all over the world at the end of August. They went to Singapore, London, New York, Paris and their last stop was in Toronto on August 30th and 31st. You can view a short video of their Toronto visit on the NBC Heroes page.

I had wanted to go and see the four cast members who visited Toronto when they made an appearance downtown at Dundas Square, but I wasn’t able to make it on time as I had to meet up with my family and begin our reunion. As it turned out, our first family outing was to see a baseball game – the Toronto Blue Jays versus the Seattle Mariners. Well, much to my surprise and delight some of the cast of Heroes also attended the baseball game.

Young Noah Gray-Cabey was in Toronto, but I didn’t see him at the baseball game. I did however get to see and photograph from afar Executive producer Jeph Loeb, James Kyson Lee who plays Hiro’s friend Ando, Zachary Quinto the evil Sylar, and Dania Ramirez a new cast member who will play Maya Herrera a Dominican who is on the run from the police. She has superhuman abilities, although they have not yet been revealed.

The cast members were given Blue Jays shirts with their last names printed on the back of their jerseys.

Cast of Heroes

The cast didn’t stay for the whole game. They only stayed until the third or fourth inning, but I can tell you that they were cheering for the Blue Jays. The photo above of them standing was taken while they were cheering a Blue Jays home run.

When it came time for them to leave they hopped over the gate and walked on the field. James Kyson Lee took the lead by several feet hurrying ahead. Was he trying to get away or did he just think everyone else was walking as quickly as he was? As a result of his speeding exit I don’t have many clear photos of him. Most of my shots focus on Zachary Quinto.

See Lee jogging ahead?

The last clear shot of Lee in the lead. He’s already in the crowded stands:

Quinto looks like he might be on a cell phone here, but I believe he’s just scratching his ear:

One last look at the evil Sylar and his producer:

Did you know that in addition to his reoccurring role as Sylar on Heroes, Quinto is busy preparing for his role as Spock in the new J.J. Abrams-helmed Star Trek movie which is slated to begin shooting in November. He does look like he’d make a perfect Spock doesn’t he?

Stay tuned for more great Scoop. The Toronto Film Festival begins this week and I hope to see some of the new movies and get in some star sightings – with photos of course.

Free audioguides for European cities

by Tricia

If you’re planning a trip to Europe in the near future you might be interested in visiting the audioguides site. The site offers free audioguides for major European cities such as London, Paris, Roame, Barclona, Vienna, Brussels and 20 more cities that tourists enjoy visiting.

The audioguides work with your Ipod or Mp3 player, and they are created to help the traveler learn more about the city they are visiting. The audio guide lasts about an hour and has a city map that you can print out for easy use, or save it on your ipod. The audioguides sites says that most of their Mp3 audioguides come in 4 different languages – English, German, French, and Italian.

I think this is a fantastic idea. If I were about to travel to one of the 25 or so cities that the site provides Audioguides for, I’d be sure to download the file and have a listen to it. After all the more you know about a city that you’re visiting the more likely it will be that you’ll have a great trip and see the sites that you are most interested in.
