by Tricia

Are you a fan of ABC’s Dancing with the stars? If you are I bet that you’ve been eagerly waiting to find out who’s going to be on the show when the series begins once more.

Well I won’t keep you in suspense. Here’s the list:

• Mark Cuban, 48, businessman (owner of NBA’s Dallas Mavericks) (pro partner: Kym Johnson);

• Jennie Garth, 35, actress (Beverly Hills, 90210) (pro partner: Derek Hough, older brother of Julianne Hough);

Wayne Newton? Hmm that should be interesting.

The show returns on September 24th with a new format. When the show debuts it will air on three consecutive nights in it’s first week, and then in the remaining competition weeks the show will air on Monday and Tuesday nights.

I’m not really a fan of the show. Don’t hit me! It’s just never interested me. So, while you guys are watching the show I just hope that the regular shows that I want to watch aren’t affected to badly by this schedule.

New CW television series Gossip Girl set to begin September 19th

by Tricia

A great new television series called Gossip Girl will be premiering on Wednesday September, 19th (9 p.m./ 8 p.m. central time).

This new show is based on the novel series by Cecily von Ziegesar. The CW’s Gossip Girl is an exciting teen drama that takes place in New York’s Upper East Side. If you enjoyed the novels and like television series about young adults you’ll love Gossip Girl.

The cast of characters attend elite academic institutions while dealing with teenage issues such as sex, drugs and other problems faced by young adults. The main characters are best friends Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively) and Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester). The pair are both romantically interested in Nate Archibald (Chace Crawford).

The group of friends learn of Serena’s return to town through the blog of the secretive Gossip Girl. The show is narrated by the secretive Gossip Girl (voiced by Kristen Bell). Serena, a notorious party girl, is different when she returns to the city and none of her friends understand just what’s going on.

You can see a pre-view of the new show on the CW’s Gossip Girl web page. You can also visit the MySpace Fan Page where you can hook up with others who are anticipating the start of this new show.

Don’t forget to tune into the CW network September 19th to catch the premiere.

Burn Notice – a new USA Network series

by Tricia

Are all your favorite TV shows on break until next September or October? Tired of Reruns? So am I, so am I.

Which is why I’m excited about a new show – USA Network’s Burn Notice – it starts on June 28th.

The series, staring Jeffrey Donovan, is about a CIA operative, Michael Weston, who gets a burn notice. The show will co-star Gabrielle Anwar, Bruce Campbell and Sharon Gless.

Apparently a burn notice is an official statement by one intelligence agency that goes out to other domestic and foreign agencies stating that a group or individual has become unreliable. This is probably the worse thing that could happen to a spy!

I wonder why a burn notice might have been put out on Michael?

I bet that after years of traveling the world doing undercover work for the CIA and being cut off from friends and family he finally met a woman. Perhaps it was just mutual interest at first and maybe he only met up with this woman a few times a year when he happened to be operating in the area she lives in. But then … love grew and he started to route his operations towards her city and they began spending more and more time together as love bloomed.

Perhaps, one night while he was on a date with her a big undercover operation took place and his fellow agents or perhaps cooperative foreign agents couldn’t get in touch with him and the operation failed.

What’s worse is that no one told him he was fired. After his date he tried to check in with his contacts and none of his contact numbers worked anymore. He was completely cut off.

Yeah, yeah I bet it’s something like that. Their operation failed and they missed catching a really bad person or perhaps a group of terrorists all because Michael was on a date and falling in love?

You can go to the site to watch a pre-view and read an overview of the show. I kind of like my idea of how he ended up getting a burn notice but you’ll have to visit the site to find out if what I’ve written is true or false.

I think this could be a good show! Be sure to tune in on June 28th.

Yul wins Survivor

by Tricia

In a two hour finale Sunday evening, Yul Kwon, nicknamed the “godfather” of Survivor Cook Islands, was awarded the $1 million top prize Sunday in a classic finale that pitted brains vs. brawn.

The series ended with three finalists- Yul, Ozzy and Becky. As Jeff Probst read out the votes it was apparent how close the match was. It ended with 5 votes for Yul, 4 votes for Ozzy and none for Becky who tagged along to the end of the game.

“It’s the first time I’ve ever felt bad that somebody didn’t win,” host Jeff Probst said. “It was so evenly matched.”

Kwon, a 31-year-old management consultant who lives in San Mateo, Calif., was the brain with degrees from Stanford University and Yale Law School. He controlled the strategic aspect of the game, particularly after he found a hidden piece of jewelry that guaranteed him one-time immunity from being voted off the island.

“The key to winning the game is maximizing the good luck and minimizing the bad luck,” he said later.

Lusth, who has two years of Santa Barbara City College on his resume and works as a waiter near the surf in Venice, Calif., mastered the tropical game’s challenges. He won two very different ones on the show’s final two-hour telecast Sunday: winning a race to complete a complex puzzle, and showing his endurance by standing on a tiny platform for two and a half hours.

The show began in controversy – pitting four groups of racially divided teams against each other, but in the end race wasn’t a factor- it was brains and cunning that won the game for Yul.
