A barn with a tin roof

I love these old barns with their silver tin roofs.
Have you ever been in a barn like this during a rain storm? The sound of the rain can be so loud! It’s kind of nice when it’s just raining lightly as it sounds like a little pitter patter above your head.

I took this photo this past summer in July when we were on our way to Ottawa for one of my Aunt’s 80th birthday parties. It was a hot summer day and the smell of the meadow was heavenly.

I have been in one. It sounds real crazy when there’s a storm but it becomes soothing in the end.

    Mine’s up!

Welcome to photo hunters, Tricia! I like your photo choice. My husband grew up in a home with a tin roof and he has often talked about the sound of the rain. I can only imagine how loud a downpour would be! My photo is up, too! Blessings!

Hi Tricia! Love the old barn! I used to live in a house with a tin roof and the sound of the rain hitting that old roof is one of my fondest memories of living there. Metal roofs on homes are big again here in TN…I see them all the time.

    Have a super weekend!

I LOVE an ol’ tin roof too — until I’m drivin’ down the road and it’s a sunny day and the glare off of one BLIIIIIINDS me! LOL! They are the BEST for rain listening though! (not HAIL though!)

    Welcome to the photo hunt!
I love these tin roofs and wonder how they get them to look so silvery. We have a more “tin” tin roof on the sunroom and the raindrops are quite relaxing. Our cats sleep out there and they don’t find the sound as lovely as I do… however, the sound of falling pine cones on the roof is another matter… that can be really loud.

I love being in a barn when it’s raining because of the sound it makes when it hits the tin roof!! This is my first time participating in the Photo Hunt…great fun:-)

Gord’s parents live north of Belleville in the country and it’s cool to see all the old barns out there.

    Mine’s up too ๐Ÿ™‚

That is a cool post. I do remember tin roofs too. We use to have those in the older days.
Wasn’t able to join the Photo hunters. I was at a loss when I was going to post and all of a sudden I couldn’t open my own blogger as I was switched to the new blogger buzz and not the blogger beta. They said blogger beta is already dead and this is the new one. So anyway, no Photo Hunter today but have something special for everyone. It is better than silver and gold. Please do visit if you have the time.

Great photos — have never been in a barn with tin roof during rain storm but have shovelled wheat from a steel grainery on sweltering hot summer day — somehow being in the barn during a rainstorm is far more appealing LOL

I’ve been under a tin roof during a rainstorm on several occasions and you’re certainly right about the din that it can make. I always find something comforting about it too though… knowing that the “noisy” tin roof is actually keeping you dry and warm and that the weather can’t get at you no matter how hard it rains.
