Rhythm and blues playing in the background

by Tricia

I enjoy listening to music while I work on the computer. Actually, I almost always have some music on in the background when I’m working around the house, outside gardening, or working in my enclose back porch planting seeds or re-potting plants. It’s relaxing.

I listen to a variety of music. I guess the only music I don’t really listen to is Country and Rap – although I do like a little bit of each of those genres, I just can’t listen to it for hours on end.

Do you listen to music when you are doing things around the house, or even while you are in your garden?

One style of music that I enjoy listening to from time to time is Rhythm and Blues and occasionally Jazz. So I was thrilled when I recently visited Wally Swinton’s internet radio site – WLLY 940 Internet Radio – where I can listen to Rhythm and Blues radio several times per week.

The site broadcasts live throughout the week, Monday to Friday between 3 and 6 pm. All I could ask of Wally would be to do more live broadcasts because it’s great!

All of the music played has been a hit in it’s time. It’s great stuff. So if you enjoy Rhythm and Blues visit the site and have a listen for yourself.

Waiting for the Tinmen

by Tricia

Update, I wrote this post earlier today after I cleaned up the house in anticipation of visitors (who would soon be making a mess of the house!), but it’s not going to happen. AGAIN!

We’re in the midst of a snowstorm and our expected guests just called to tell us that they wouldn’t be driving into Toronto from where they live out of town as the weather and driving conditions are just too bad. Boo Hoo … my tin ceiling has to wait again. Oh well, maybe next weekend.

I was looking forward to their visit. Read below to find out why.

I’m sitting here waiting for our friends to show up and help us work on our tin ceiling. I have a feeling we won’t get much work done tonight though.

My husband is a musician and so are the two men that are coming over for the weekend. I think this evening will be filled with the sound of acoustic and electric guitar and vocals.

As I sit here writing this post I’m listening to a song that was composed by one of the guys. He sent it on Thursday night so that Chris could listen to it and help him figure out how to do one part of the song different.

It sounds fantastic to me. It’s kind of folky mellow but has a beautiful rhythm and the words are catchy enough that before you know it you’re singing along to the Chorus. Who knows I could be listening to the next great hit.

Is your credit card saving you money or costing you money?

by Tricia

I think that it’s probably safe to say that most of the people that read this site likely own or rent their homes. Am I correct? I know that there are probably some apartment or condo dwellers amongst my readers but most of you likely have homes or cottages where you garden.

One reason why I was wondering this is because I was recently told that in recent times more people are likely to put their money towards home loans rather than spending on credit cards. While that may be true, I think that since the majority of people who read this site are gardeners with their own homes and land to garden on that you probably do use your credit cards for purchases.

Certainly at this time of year many of us are putting in orders for spring with the mail order garden companies. Purchasing plants, seeds, gardening supplies and gardening tools. Which is why I wanted to tell my readers about a site that I just visited creditcards-gb.co.uk where you can learn more about credit cards in general, as well as compare credit cards in order to obtain the best one for your purchasing and budgeting needs.

I figured that since many of us are probably making gardening purchases with our credit cards that it might be time for some of us to evaluate the current card that we are using and perhaps get another card that has better rates, and perhaps even 0% balance transfers. I know that I’m always looking to save money on my credit cards. I’d rather have one with low interest rates or 0% balance transfers than one that charges me 18% interest! I’m sure you would too.

If you are interested in finding out if obtaining a new credit card might end up saving you money why don’t you visit the Uk Credit Card Guide and read the credit card news, and compare the many different types of credit cards that can be found on their site and see for yourself if one of the cards offered on the site might suit your needs better than your current card.
