Lovely hyacinth

I love scented spring flowers, don’t you?

I believe that the Hyacinth is one of the strongest scented spring flowers. They’re lovely scent is so strong that if I have the kitchen window open just a little bit when the flowers are blooming in the back garden I can sometimes smell the scent in my living room at the front of the house!

Hyacinths come in many colors. You can get white, red, blue, purple, coral/peach and several other different colors. Rather than buying packages of bulbs with mixed colors I prefer to buy separate packages of bulbs with specific colors so that I can coordinate them in the garden beds. Placing certain colors beside other spring flowers that they will compliment.

I know the Spring is still a long way off so I’ll have to wait patiently for my hyacinths to bloom.

I’m remembering blooms in my GTS post as well.

Pretty, pretty – blue is my favourite color – and pink, and white… all the Hyacinth colors are so spectacular and the smell is amazing…. I can almost smell them from here 🙂

I remember planting my first Hyacinth bulbs – the lady in the store said not to touch the bulbs, but do you think I listened…. Nope, not me… ha – my hands burned for hours!

I love the smell of hyacinths, to the point that I can get sick of it.

Beautiful picture and your post made me almost feel the smell of the garden in spring thank you for that. I’m really not big fan of winter and we didn’t have such luck to have mild one that you mentioned in one of your previous posts(must admit I’m bit jealous).

It is April 16 2011 – Spring time in beautiful BC, Canada. There is a late frost and for that reason I have not put my two Hyacinth’s outside – so right now I am enjoying the beautiful scent throughout my home from my two lovey flowers in the livingroom window….(close your eyes, take a deep breath and IMAGINE )

Shay I have Hyacinth coming up in my garden beds here in Toronto … I don’t have to imagine. I find the smell of Hyacinth much too strong for indoors … just one or two plants in bloom can scent the whole back yard let alone the amount I have. 😉
