It’s a cold spring so far

Well so much for the first week of Spring, huh? It’s been cold and it’s getting colder! We actually turned our furnace up half a degree yesterday because the house was just too cold.

I’m dying to see my garden beds again. So far the snows melted off a bit near the house and I can see a portion of my smallest garden bed. Of course it’s so cold that there’s no signs of life there yet.

I guess it will take until Mid May or even early June before I see a scene in my garden like the one above. That’s Columbine growing behind one of my hostas. It almost looks like the flower belongs to the Hosta doesn’t it?

As you wait for your garden to wake up what plants are you most eager to see growing? Are you planning on adding any new plants?

Gardeners, Plant and Nature lovers can join in every Sunday, visit As the Garden Grows for more information. GTS participants remember to check in at As the Garden Grows each week so that we’ll know you made a new post!

Hi again. Your columbine is so pretty and purple. It will definitely be a while before we see anything growing!

I posted my GTS and it’s a little different than yours, lol!

    Enjoy your Easter Sunday.

Hope it warms up for you soon. We had a bit of a cold snap down here over the weekend but nothing too major. Starting to be a bit spring-like already down here.

You think Columbine and I think Coreopsis while we both turn up the heat indoors. This is the first year in many many season we were not able to hide Easter Eggs outside. I thought to just boil and toss – no one would be able to see them with the sun glaring off all the snow. But we kept the hunt indoors. It just didn’t seem like Easter having to bundle up the kids like they were going on an artic expedition.

Haha… here I thought it WAS an unusual Ontario Hosta flower!!! Come see our lovely mini daffodils in bloom – no snow here – we’re enjoying the Spring!

It surely has been a long winter. Hopefully the signs of spring will start popping up in the garden sooner. Haven’t posted for a while in GTS. Hopefully next Sunday. Thanks for the visit.

It’s still too cold here, also, to start gardening. Not sure if I’m going to do much besides maintain what’s already there. It’s been a bad couple of years and squirrels and what not are starving and eating the bulbs, seeds, and young plants.

My Iris came to visit on Easter Morning. So many beautiful colors surround me here. Spring is a moment and summer will melt it away in a flash I so love the Spring.
