Lovely New York Asters

My perennial New York Asters are in full bloom and they are putting on a spectacular display as usual.

IMG_1744

The bee’s can’t help but visit the small purple flowers to collect as much pollen as they can either.

I actually took this photo last year around this time. The weather’s been cool and the skies have been cloudy all week – not ideal picture taking conditions. Hopefully today or tomorrow I can get out in the garden and take a lot of pictures. The roses are pretty much all in bloom again, probably the last blooms of the season for many … so I’ve got to get those pictures soon!

Very lovely shot of your asters. That’s one plant I’ve never grown, and I don’t know why, I really like them!

    Happy GTS!

It seems like the Asters are having a great year. I hate to think bloom time is just about over. I better get out too and catch the last of this year’s flowers before they’re gone.

The Asters are just beginning to bloom here in NC, my favorite time of the year with one of my favorite perennials.

Thanks for all of your comments.

My asters are growing just at the beginning of my raised garden beds, so they are only about 10 feet or so from my kitchen window. I see they every time I look out into the backyard and they look lovely each day. I really should divide the clump and plant some in another area of my garden as well. They are so pretty and they make such a lovely fall display it’d be worth having them in one or two other areas of the garden as well … hmm maybe in the front too.

I Googled “Asters” and found a couple of interesting facts. The name comes from the greek word for star (like asterisk). The number of petals is always a Fibonacci number.

They look fantastic – what a nice view you must have from your kitchen window.
