A tree root house?

by Tricia

I came across a picture of an interesting house that appears to be made from some kind of tree roots and stone.

What do you think of this house/ building? Doesn’t it look like it’s built with with tree roots? Or maybe it’s just made to look that way …

BTW sorry I missed Green Thumb Sunday. My back was too sore after working in the garden for hours on Saturday. I just couldn’t move!

This looks like it could come from Middle Earth. Do Hobbits live there? (:

Yeah it does look like tree roots. I would say it has to be synthetic or the wood was treated with something because I would be afraid years down the line that it would start to rot away.

It looks like real. Here in Indonesia also there is something like that. Pity, I don’t have the picture of it.

just ran across this through google, saw that everybody was wondering where it’s from. I’ve been there before- it’s in Barcelona, Spain and it’s called the Casa Batllo. It’s a huge house that Antoni Gaudi built.. he’s a famous barcelonian artist and architect, who also designed one of the facades of Sagrada Familia. He also has a ton of art in Parc Guell.

you can google search Gaudi and you’ll find a lot more information.

Not Barcelona, not Gaudi. Although obviously influenced by him. This is the Hang Nga Guesthouse , popularly known as the “Crazy House”, an unconventional building designed and constructed by Vietnamese architect Dang Viet Nga in Dalat Vietnam.
