Home Keeping Handbook

by Tricia

I’m struggling to find some writing ideas. It’s hard to come up with great writing ideas at this time of year – not only because we are in the cool weather months but also because of the holidays. So I thought I’d turn to others and find some popular books that my readers might enjoy.

Martha Stewart’s Homekeeping Handbook: The Essential Guide to Caring for Everything in Your Home

Now I know, Martha is one of those people that you either just love, or hate – but whether you are a lover or hater you have to admit she comes up with some pretty good tips and ideas every now and then.

Martha Stewarts home reference book is said to be a must have for many reasons. The book is printed on thick, glossy pages covered with sepia photos and it’s full of tips and ideas sectioned off in a room by room guide.

Whether you have a large or small home the key to making it beautiful and livable is managing the upkeep without feeling flustered. Marthas book tells you how to care for your home and everything in it so you’ll be able to keep your home looking it’s best. Everything is covered in this book – from creating a living room floor plan to setting a formal table; from choosing HEPA filters to sealing soapstone countertops; from organizing your home office to polishing your silver and caring for family heirlooms.

If this book sounds like a great gift idea or like something you’d like, It might be a little late to order this book for Christmas online, but here’s an Amazon link for it just in case:

Want to win an Ipod Shuffle?

by Tricia

If figured that my Home and Garden site was the best place for me to tell people about this contest, because all you need to do to win the contest is visit Contractorhired.com, who happens to be sponsoring this post, and refer a home service professional. I’m sure that some of my readers have hired people to landscape their yards, or possible work on their houses – painters, electricians, plumbers, contractors, lawn care service, Realtors, builders and more, are all worthy of being referred.

Contractor Hire is actively recruiting handymen so if you refer someone that’s done work on your property you’ll be helping them build their site, and possibly getting your handyman a little bit more business. Visit the site for full contest details and good luck!

What kind of flower are you?

by Tricia

I figured this is the perfect quiz for a group of gardeners.

I took the quiz and it turns out that:

I am a
Daisy

What Flower
Are You?

“You are just a sweet person. When a friend needs a shoulder to cry on, you are happy to offer yours with a box of tissues as well. Once in awhile, you wish you could be a little more dramatic but then sensibility sets back in and you know that you are perfect the way you are.”

Awwww. Here I was hoping that I’d turn out to be a rose or some exotic flower and I’m just a daisy. A reliable, dependable daisy.

Have you taken this quiz before? If you have what kind of flower did you turn out to be? If you haven’t taken the quiz but decide to try it come back and tell me what you were. I just hope that no one turns out to be one of those stink flowers. LOL
