Upcoming Gardening Events

by Tricia

I figured that since this site is read by so many people from all over the world that when I come across an upcoming gardening event I might as well write about it on this site so that readers from those areas might attend the event.

Here’s a few events that you might be interested in attending:

Gardening conference in Gladstone – Marquette, MI

  • The 2007 Bay de Noc Gardening Conference will be offered Saturday, April 14 at Gladstone High School. Participants may attend four of 20 offered classes. This program qualifies for Master Gardener educational credit.

Grand Prairie to host butterfly gardening “how to” session, Grand Prairie, Texas

  • Thursday, March 22, at 6:00 pm, the City of Grand Prairie Public Works Training Center will offer a free “how to” class on of butterfly gardening.

Community gardening program helps disability non-profit group – Chicago, IL

  • To get in touch with Kelly and her gardeners and learn more about Chicago’s botanic garden’s horticultural therapy programs go to: www.chicagobotanic.org or contact Glenkirk at 847.272.5111 www.glenkirk.org

A list of Gardening related events in the NorthEast PA area

  • Dig It: Upcoming Gardening Events

I’ll try to write every once in a while about upcoming garden related events that I hear about through my various resources.

If you know of, or have a gardening event of your own that you’d like me to mention on this site please feel free to drop me an email or leave a comment as I’d be happy to make my readers aware of garden events and lectures that they might attend.

Corporate training in Eastnor Castle

by Tricia

How would you like to have your next corporate training session in a historic English castle? Eastnorecastle.com is located close to London, and the site offers entertaining, conferences and training for companies from all over the world.

I know that if I was in charge of looking for a Corporate training venue for my company I would certainly take a look at what Eastnor Castle has to offer. Certainly it would be a way for company employees to get away from the company environment for a unique corporate event.

Eastnor Castle offers ornate state rooms, a Great Hall that would seat 150 people for theatre style presentations, a Gothic drawing room, and another room known as the Octagon Room with terraces that overlook a lake which would be perfect for board room meetings.

One of their packages even offers overnight stays in the Castle for guests.

Certainly, if my employer were to invite me to a corporate training session at the Castle I would more than likely feel like a highly valued employee and perhaps work even harder for the company than I already did.

Visit the Eastnor Castle website for more information about their corporate training venue.

The birds are back

by Tricia

We have birds that stick around year round but I don’t see them in large groups or all that often through the winter.

Yes, a few birds each day in the winter months is a normal sighting, but now that Spring is approaching and the snow has melted the birds are hanging out in our garden again.

I didn’t realize how much I missed seeing 10 or 20 birds sitting on my laundry line, or scattered throughout the yard perhaps hunting the garden beds and grass for signs of earthworms or other interesting food items.

Luckily I haven’t see too many squirrels yet. I imagine that they’ll be digging in my garden beds soon too. Either looking for nuts and other goodies that they buried in the past or hiding new goodies.

Have you noticed more wildlife in your garden now that the weather is getting better?
