A better way to share and manage photos

by Tricia

I’ve just come cross a site that is a combination of a photo management and storage website as well as a social network. The site is called Pixamo and it’s located at www.pixamo.com. The site sounds like it’s not only a great way to manage your photos but also a way to connect with friends, and meet people who share common interests.

Membership with Pixamo is free at this time, although they might create paid accounts at some point in the future.

What I like about the site is that if offers complete control over your photographs- who sees them – only you?, friends? or everyone?

Oh and their tagging system. Pixamo strongly encourages it’s members to tag photos with keywords that describe the photo, in that way, photos are grouped together by their tags rather than having folder upon folder of photos that may or may not go together.

For example. If I upload a number of photos – some of Toronto’s lovely beach, some of the flowers and plants in my garden and others that were of my family, if I tagged them appropriately I’d be able to simply click on the keyword flower, or garden and every photo that I’ve tagged with the keyword photo or garden would come up for me to view. I really like using a simple method like this to find and sort my photographs.

If you’ve marked your photos for public viewing other members of Pixamo can find both you and your photos when they search the site. You might make new friends when you discover others with common interests such as gardening.

So, if you are like me and have a lot of photographs stored on your computer, why not upload them onto Pixamo and share some of them with others who might be interested in seeing your photos?

Save the Snowman

Wordless Wednesday

Suicidal Snowman

hangedsnowman

This poor snowman. He’s so confused. He thought he’d never come to life this year since it’s been unseasonably warm and one of the key factors needed to bring him to life was absent. That’s right- there was no snow.

This past Monday the snowman was born, but there still isn’t all that much snow. Even worse there are no snow women. None at all!

Poor guy. He spent all of December and half of January just waiting to come to life and start a small snowman family, but without a Mrs. Snowman his dreams have been crushed.

Does anyone know of a mailorder snow woman agency? He needs love. Lets save him before he melts and hangs himself as he slids off th bench.

I redecorate when it’s too cold to garden

by Tricia

Now that it’s cool outside and we can’t be in our gardens do your thoughts begin to focus on the inside of your home? Mine do. At least in December, January and February as it’s too early to really begin thinking of even starting seedlings, the only things that I do plant or garden wise during those months is maintain my houseplants and the plants that I’ve brought in from outdoors.

That leaves plenty of time for me to think about home renovations- of which we are deep into these days. This weekend our tin ceiling will go up in our living room dining room!

I also think about decor.

This is the time of year when I move furniture around to give a room a different look, or buy new furnishings to replace old and worn furniture or again to renew a rooms look.

Some of you might have kids that are growing older and might begin to think of redecorating their rooms, perhaps buying some kids furniture. One site that you might want to look at while you search for furnishings for your living room/ dining room, bedrooms or kids rooms might be www.greatpricedfurniture.com.

As the sites domain name implies they have great prices on their furniture and more importantly some very nicely styled furnishings. The link that I’ve listed above is for childrens furniture and if you visit the link you’ll see some very nice dressers, chairs, nightstands and beds. I like that some of their furniture designs for kids are smaller versions of adult style furniture. Kids like fun stuff but as they grow older they also like to have things that are similar to what their parents and other older family members have. Purchasing furniture designs such as these is one way of telling your child that they are maturing.

Have a look at the site and see what you think of all their furniture designs. I’m sure you’ll agree that they have some quality products.
