How’s your credit card holding up in the buying season?

by Tricia

I hope that all of my visitors had a great holiday season. I was wondering how many of you saved some of your shopping for after Christmas so you could catch some of the post Christmas sales? New Year Sales, or as we have here “Boxing Day” sales?

Are your credit cards taking a beating? Stats for the UK show that credit cards are used for the bulk of spending by consumers during the Christmas and New Year period and I wouldn’t doubt for one minute that those stats hold true for large portions of Europe and North America as well. Apparently January is also the month when the majority of new credit card applications are made. Often these applications aren’t for new cards per se, they are to transfer current balances over to new credit cards. Often ones with 0% balance transfers or low interest cards.

We had absolutely no Christmas budget this year due to my illness. We just couldn’t afford to go out and get gifts for everyone like we normally do. One benefit of this has been that our credit card, for once, did not take a beating this year. It’s nice to be able to say that.

However, if you are unlike me and you put a lot of your holiday expenses on your credit cards you might be interested in visiting the Card Guide Co, where you can compare credit cards, interest rates, and all of the various cards with rewards attached to them from air miles to Sony points.

The Card Guide is just full of information that anyone looking to get their first or their 5th credit card would find useful. As I said earlier you can compare credit cards, learn about balance transfers, and read many of their informative articles when you visit the Card Guide. Check out your options.

January is the month when people find themselves in debt

by Tricia

I never really thought about this before, but apparently January is one of the busiest months for debt helplines. I guess Christmas and all the expense of the holidays pushes people over the edge financially and they discover, once the bills start pouring in, in January that they are deeply in debt.

This, of course, is not a good situation to find yourself in, but there are companies out there that can help. One of them is Loanwize, the sponsor of this post. Their site is chock full of information about personal loans, and the many other types of loans that one could get, depending upon their needs and circumstances.

You might think about consolidating all of your bills and acquiring a loan to pay them off. One payment a month is far better than juggling 5 or more angry businesses that constantly call you seeking their money when you get into debt. If you own your home you might think about getting secured loans, as the interest rate on a secured loan is often a little lower than other types of loans. I suppose it would depend upon how much equity you have in your home as to how well that might work for you.

Another way that you might pay off your bills and get out of debt might be to take out second mortgages on your homes, or perhaps get a line of credit to pay off the bills you owe, and then concentrate on just paying off what you borrowed on the line of credit.

There are solutions when you fall into financial troubles. Seek help before you get too stressed and before the problem worsens.

Have you made any new years resolutions yet?

by Tricia

So folks, have you made any New Years Resolutions yet? Are you going to keep the ones you make? I’ve made a few and I think that I’ve found a way that might help me keep them. You see, there’s a site on the internet called 10millionresolutions.com and when you visit that site they give you the opportunity to post your resolutions online.

It’s quite simple really, and I think it’s an interesting idea. They hope to change the world- one resolution at a time. All you need to do, if you’d like to post your resolution is go to the site and fill in the line that says “Enter your resolution and receive a free goal setting tool kit”. Just click on that area and type in your resolution. It will then take you to another page where you’ll be asked to fill out your name and email address. Just confirm your information by email a very short time later and you’ll find that you’ll have been given a free 3 day, 2 night vacation on them, plus they’ll give you a free goal resolution tool kit and a free t-shirt too once you’ve completed their 9 question survey. It’s fast, simple and as you can see – rewarding.

I listed my resolution but I don’t see it just yet. My resolution was to kick this illness and get healthier. That’s something I really need to do, but I’m afraid that it will take a little more than resolve to fix me up.

As of right now they have 601,085 resolutions and I believe, given the name of their site 10 million Resolutions that they are hoping to eventually list 10 million resolutions. Why don’t you come up with a great resolution that you can do and post it on the site.
