I want garden themed stationary

by Tricia

Are you an office supply addict? I have all kinds of sticky notes like post it’s, and assortment of pens and my beloved sharpies. I use the sharpies to write on those wooden garden marker sticks when I plant new seedlings or even in the trays when I’m growing them in the spring. The writing doesn’t fade off very easily with all the humidity because sharpies are permanent markers.

I also write down any new plants that I plant in my garden beds. I usually do this on lined paper or yellow notepads. I guess I just love office supplies. My desk is full of stuff that I use all the time. Now I’m trying to use this blog to keep track of new plants that I’ve placed around the garden and their progress. It’s not working out all that well though as I still find myself writing something on one type of piece of paper or another each day.

I still haven’t decided on what type of designer personal checks I’m going to get yet either. As I said in an earlier post I want to get checks with some kind of garden theme as a background, perhaps a rose background, but which ever kind I decide on my plan is to buy cheap checks because I don’t use checks very often so I don’t feel that I need to spend too much on them. Still I’d like them to be personal.

I don’t think I’ve ever said on this site that I used to keep reptiles, well I still do – two box turtles. Back when I had a lot of reptiles – many lizards I used to go to reptile shows and I’d buy writing pads with different reptiles designs on them. I bought so many back then that I still have a few. I was even thinking of trying to find some checks that had a reptile on them. I don’t think I ever found any though. LOL

So tell me – are you hooked on office supplies too? Do you have pads of papers or pens stored in several rooms in your house?

The card giver

by Tricia

We just got a greeting card from Chris’ favorite Aunt. I think this woman is a greeting card fanatic. She sends up the usual cards- for our Birthdays, and Christmas, but then we get greeting cards for Thanks Giving, Easter, May Day, Labour Day – you name it, if she can find a card for it she sends it. She’s also very religious so we get Mass Cards and religious themed cards, plus cards when we are sick too.

She loves us- what can I say. LOL

She has the most unique address labels that I’ve ever seen too. Chris’ family is Irish and the label background has the family’s Irish Coat of Arms on it. The labels that I often use on our cards and letters are those free address labels that the salvation army sends every year. Yes, yes I should get some made, perhaps with a garden theme as a background.

My husbands aunt is such a cool lady, oh and she likes gardening too. You should see her yard. She doesn’t keep up with her garden anymore but the good bones are still there and it’s still very nice.

So, do you want to know what the latest two cards were? One was a Halloween card of course and the other was a “Happy Autumn” greeting card. It has the most beautiful scene with colorful fall leaves on it. It’s gorgeous. That one’s a keeper.

My favorite cheque designs

by Tricia

I need to get some new checks made, preferably cheap checks . Why cheap? Well, I don’t use checks these days as much as I used to, so why pay the bank $40 or $50 to have them make me checks that will take me two years to use?

I’ve never been really big on plain looking checks. They’re just so boring. I’ve always picked out checks with background designs that I enjoyed. I even did that with my business checks way back when I had my own jewelry business (I was a jewelry designer/trades person).

I can’t remember what I picked out for my business checks – that was more than ten years ago, but I think I chose ones with my business name written in gold. My companies name was Gold Cuts so it made sense to have the company name splashed across my business cards and checks in gold. Oh, the checks for my business were in duplicate as well to help me keep track of my expenses easily. I just didn’t have time, or even access to a good finance program that I could use on my computer back then.

Whenever I order personal checks for my accounts I pick a different design. Some of my favorite check designs have been of beautiful landscapes or animals. I had one with two deer on them once. I really enjoyed that design.

I think the next checks that I purchase- hopefully cheaply – will have some kind of floral design. Something in keeping with my current interests. Perhaps I can find some nice ones with rose backgrounds. My personal checks are always side tear checks. I don’t need duplicates of my personal checks as I write so few of them these days it’s easy enough for me to remember what I paid for with a check.

So tell me- what kind of checks do you like to use? Do you purchase plain checks or do you get ones with a design that you’ve spent some time picking out in order to make your checks a little more personal?
