Trying to make plans for our bathroom reno project

by Tricia

Once my husband and I complete our living room dining room renovation project it will be time to move on to the next project. We won’t be taking a break in between projects since the living room dinning room reno has taken forever and has been more break than work lately.

I’ve love to work on our upstairs bathroom. It’s so small! At this point I haven’t decided whether we’ll work with the very small space that we have or if we’ll knock down a wall and expand the bathroom. Obviously knocking down a wall and expanding would be what I’d prefer to do as we’d be able to have a very nice upstairs bathroom if we did that.

Still … it’s a much bigger project in every way from expenses to the amount of work that would have to be done. We’d have to move the pipes and drains and so on. I’m not sure we’re up for that right now. Not on our own anyway.

So, if I were to stick with just renovating the small space that we currently have I think that it might be best to take out the bathtub altogether and install a very nice shower. Ideally I think something like this shower would work well in our small space. I think it would take a little less room than a bathtub so we’d be able to put a upright cabinet in the bathroom as well.

Right now we’ve just got a toilet, bathtub with makeshift shower and a very small sink with an under sink storage cabinet.

Speaking of sinks I’d love to get a new sink. One that looks like a beautiful bowl sitting on a table or counter with wall mount taps above the bowl. That would look beautiful.

I’ve actually been looking at the selection of bathroom tubs, showers, taps, furnishings and accessories at www.Taps4Less.com to get some ideas for our bathroom renovation project.

As you can tell I don’t have any definite plans for this upcoming project. It’s going to be a difficult project whether we keep the bathroom as is or expand.

Any ideas?

I’ve decided to use Glass tiles in my kitchen and bathroom reno projects

by Tricia

I love watching home decor and renovation shows on TLC and the HGTV channels.

I always get great ideas for my own ever ongoing home renovation projects from these shows. If one of the shows is particularly good I’ll literally take notes – writing down product names, or visiting the shows website so that I can find out what products were used and then go on to visit those sites and bookmark them for future use.

I guess I’ve been working on a virtual home renovation scrapbook? Hey the information that I gather is good for my blog posts too of course. If I can’t use an idea maybe you can?

One of the products that caught my eye a while back when I was watching shows like Trading Places and that fun Australian group renovation show The Block is glass tile. I just love the look of it.

I guess you can’t really tell from this photo how much different glass tiles are from standard ceramic tiles, but they are glossy and just have what I think is a very luxurious look to them.

Our kitchen and bathroom renovations won’t take place until sometime next year, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we end up using glass tiles in both rooms.

I mean, I’ve even gone so far as to look for online stores that sell tiles.

I actually found what I think might be a good site to purchase my tiles from. It’s called AnchorBayTile.com and they specialize in the sale of ceramic tile. I’m really happy I found this site and thought that if any of my readers might also be in the process of renovating your homes that you might also be interested in this site.

There’s quite a selection of tiles ranging from ceramic, glass, to metal and wood! Now, I’m not near ready for my reno project yet so I haven’t even begun to compare prices, but as far as I can see AnchorBayTile.com has great prices for quality products. I mean – you can’t find glass or metal tiles at very many retail or online shops and this store has a huge variety.

I’m definitely keeping this site in mind because I just know I’m be purchasing glass and probably ceramic tiles for my projects.

Trying to find that inner Zen

by Tricia

Wordless Wednesday

As was suggested by one of my regular visitors I’m trying to find a little slice of peace. This beautiful photo of a Tiffany Rose in my garden does help.

I lost my normal cool.

You see a post on another blog yesterday got under my skin. Well, I mean to say that I let it get under my skin. See my last post if your curious as to what made me blow my cool.

Deep breaths and a good sleep should help …
