My favorite flowers are roses

by Tricia

Have you ever thought about what your favorite flower is? That might be a simple question for a non-gardener, but I’m sure there are many people with gardens who would probably have a very hard time picking just one flower as their favorite.

I know I had a hard time deciding which flower might be my favorite, but then I thought well which flower do I grow the most of? The rose of course!

I suppose that many would pick the rose as their favorite flower because there are so many sentimental memories attached to the rose. It might be the first flower their spouse gave them. It might remind a person of romantic occasions or special occasions such as their own wedding.

Whatever the reason my bet is that the rose is the worlds favorite flower.

mbqfrenchkiss_grn07_l.jpg If I were to send a bouquet of roses to someone I loved I think I’d send this Summer Elegance Bouquet of flowers . It has lovely red roses as well as another favorite of mine – Lilies. The lilies in this bouquet are pink Nerine Lilies and pink Stargazer lilies – each compliment the roses quite nicely.

I love roses, lilies and many other flowers of summer. I think this bouquet signifies the best of summer.

What’s your favorite flower?

Time to face the heat

by Tricia

It’s almost 9 pm and I’m gearing up to go outside and begin watering my garden.

It’s been a very hot day. It’s finally dropped down to 30 Celsius (86 F) but with humidity it’s still 36 Celsius (96.8). Wish me luck!

I didn’t water yesterday even though it’d been hot all day. We’d watered really well on Sunday evening. I figured I could let it go a day, even a hot day, but I certainly can’t let it go for two days when it’s this unbearably warm outside!

The one good thing about going out at this time is that my elderly stalker hopefully won’t notice me. If she does she’ll come and stare at me while I water. The staring isn’t so bad it’s when she talks and I can’t hear her so I have to keep stopping what I’m doing just to find out that she asked if today was Tuesday or to say “no rain, no rain” again for the third time that day.

She watched Chris and I all day Sunday when we were out getting work done in the garden. I just get irritated when I’m stared at for hours on end. Of course I then end up taking it out on my husband when he’s not who I’m mad at all.

With any luck none of my neighbors will be out and I can get the watering done and be back inside within an hour and a half at the most!

Anyone else having a heat wave?

It’s time to change the curtains

by Tricia

Our windows are dressed with a mix of curtains and blinds. Sometimes both on the same window depending upon the rooms purpose and how much light or privacy we want in that room.

We have blinds in the bedrooms so that we can darken the rooms while sleeping. Remember my husband and I used to do a lot of night shifts.

I’ve thought of getting new curtains for some of the rooms in our house. Certainly the bathroom needs new curtains. I never did take down the ones that the former home owners used and I think the curtain in the bathroom must be 20+ years old. Yes it’s time for a change.

Terry’s Fabrics has ready made curtains in a number of lovely designs and styles. Not only do they sell curtains but they also sell all of the accessories needed to dress your windows such as poles, tracks and other accessories.

When I’m ready to begin redecorating some of the rooms of our home I think I’ll be visiting Terry’s Fabrics to browse through their large curtain selection.
