Bright red lilies

This weeks theme is RED

Tiger Lily close up

This is an orangey red tiger lily that grows each year in my garden.

I love looking out my kitchen window in the morning and seeing their fiery color in the bright sun. They really are quite pretty when grown in large clumps.

Just don’t bend down to try to smell a lily.

That colored pollen stains and if you get it on your face, arm or shirt it will take a while to get off. I believe it’s just about impossible to get off clothes!

Rain drops on Snapdragons

by Tricia

Wordless Wednesday

white Snapdragon

I took this photo sometime over the summer after it had rained in the garden.

Why do flowers look so much more pretty when they have water droplets on them?

This of course is a common snapdragon. Lovely in it’s perfection isn’t it?

I know this Wordless Wednesday post is kind of late. I’ve just been so busy with our new little puppy! Hopefully I’ll get back to blogging on time again soon.

My new garden pest

Well, I missed Green Thumb Sunday yesterday. This is my main reason:

IMG_2643

Yes, we got a puppy. She’s investigating some of the plants in the garden in this shot. As you can see we’ve had our first snow too.

Midnight is a Labrador Retriever pup and as you might already know Labs love to chew, chew, chew. I can only imagine what kind of challenges are ahead of me next spring and onward as far as keeping my garden intact!

That of course will be my goal. Keep the dog happy, but keep the garden looking nice too.

Luckily we have a number of nice parks in the area, as well as hiking trails and we aren’t too far from the beach. So … hopefully I’ll be able to keep the dog busy and happy in the various neighborhood parks and limit the damage that she might do to the garden.

Wish me luck!

BTW if you want to read more about Midnight and what happened after we brought her home early Saturday morning you can read about it at my other blog Tricia’s Musings.
