This weeks Theme is Shiny

Chris and I went to Chicago last summer and while we were there we toured downtown Chicago.

One of the places that I liked best in Chicago was Millennium park – see photo above – with it’s large outdoor entertainment theater and lovely flowers, and shrubs planted around it, and Cloud Gate.

I have photos of Cloud Gate on Tricia’s Musings. That’s the coolest sculpture ever so you must visit my other site too.

I’d love to go to Chicago and attend a concert or play or whatever they might put on in the outdoor Millennium park. I’ve heard the acoustics’s there are supposed to be amazing.

This weeks Theme is Colorful

DSC01914 copy 2

I haven’t planted any marigolds yet, but I have purchased some. They’re sitting in their little seedling containers just waiting for me to plant them. This marigold is my neighbors.

On mother’s day her family actually did some work in the yard and they planted some flowers for her. A few days later I was out taking photos of my flowers and she insisted that I take pictures of her flowers too. Funny thing is that once I started she wanted me to stop because she decided she didn’t want me to waste my film. Try explaining to a lady that’s almost 90 what a digital camera is!

I truly must be on some kind of orange kick. I have flowers of many colors but I keep wanting to post flowers with orange in them. Even this new theme that I picked out and modified for As the Garden Grows has a lot of orange in it.

Orange is not my favorite color, but for some reason I seem to be very attracted to it in the last while. Odd. I haven’t purchased all my annuals for the garden beds yet … I wonder how many of them will have shades of orange this year?

This weeks Theme is Five

I’ve been very focused on my garden this week.

Watching how much it’s grown each day, how much the plants grew after a recent storm … checking on what’s bloom and taking literally hundreds of photos to record the gardens progress.

This weeks Photo hunter them asked us to show a photo that represents Five in some way. I’m sure there’s some great entries this week and I hope to get around to see everyone’s shots soon! My choice for this weeks theme is this lovely group of five red tulips. They are in full bloom and since they have so many petals they almost look like roses don’t they?

Red Tulip

Such deep orangish reds are a challenge for most camera’s aren’t they?
