Save money shopping online with the CouponChief

by Tricia

The CouponChief website has got to be one of my favorite sites to tell readers about. I just love the deals that I can get over there by using coupon codes at any of the 1000+ stores listed on the site.

I think you’ll find that most of the major retail stores that you shop at in your day to day life are listed at CouponChief. The bonus is that you can save even more money by shopping online by watching for deals or using CouponChief coupons.

I just discovered a store that I used to shop at occasionally, but haven’t for ages because the only ones that I’m aware of in this city are so far away. I can’t get there often at all. Now I can shop online through the Couponchief site using The Bombay Company coupons to get great deals. I just discovered that I can get 40% off my purchases there. The Bombay company has great stuff.

If there’s no new posts for a while it’s because I’m too busy shopping!

Hardy Roses

by Tricia

If you live in one of the colder gardening zones – Perhaps a USDA zone 2 or 3 you might have already found that you need to purchase very hardy roses.

Some of the hardiest are the Rugosa roses. They are the most cold tolerant group of roses. Most of the cultivars are hardy to zone 4 and a number of them are hardy to zone 3.

Another type of rose to search for are the Canadian Explorer roses. They have been developed to survive Canadian winters. They require minimal care and are environmentally friendly needing minimal spraying. The roses are hardy to -35 Celsius (-31 F) with only snow as protection. They are disease resistant, and flower repeatedly throughout the summer. The Parkland series of roses is similar in nature.

Just a few of the Canadian explorers to look for are Alexander Mackenzie, Champlain, Charles Albanel, David Thompson, De Montarville, and Frontenac.

I grow several of these roses myself and they are thriving. I love them.

Odd Garden Decor

by Tricia

Wordless Wednesday

Img184

I’ve shown my readers a number of amusing photos of strange garden decor in the last month or so, but I think this one takes the cake. Or rather perhaps I should say this one hit a royal flush?

His and hers garden decor. The latest in garden, farm, or even front yard decoration is the toilet used as a planter. Even discarded toilets can eventually become a planter if left in place outdoors for a long period of time. I imagine that weeds would thrive in that kind of environment.

I’m always looking for fun garden photos. Please send me some fun snaps if you’ve seen some wacky garden decor.
