Improve your Karma

by Tricia

Have you heard of Karma? That’s when you do something good and somewhere a long the line good thing happen to you. Some people actively work towards building their Karma – I know you are thinking of the TV show “My Name is Earl” aren’t you? Well yes, Earl has changed his life by righting wrongs that he’s done and seems to be improving his Karma, but so has a man named Sven Goodsson.

Sven started a site ImproveYourKarma.com to chronicle his path towards improving his own Karma and I must say – just from my first glance at it I think it’s hilarious. You must see him running in place a la exercise and diet guru Richard Simmons.

The site offers ways to improve your own Karma, plus a way to boost both his and yours too. For the latter – if you purchase a Motorola Red phone through his site a portion of phone use and the purchase price goes directly to the RED charity started by Bono of U2.

The Karma site also features a Monitor that you can place on your site that analysis your site looking over the words you’ve used in your posts and comes up with a page Karma rating. There is also a feature that analysizes photos that you upload and it scans for key colors and then provides a aura analysis of your photo.

The site looks fun, has ways for you to contribute to good causes and ideas on how to improve your own karma rating. Check it out for yourself.

Gardening Tips forum created at GoBoardz

by Tricia

GoBoardz is a newish site where you can go and create your own GoBoardz Forums absolutely free of charge. GoBoardz is sponsoring this post so that I can tell you how to create your own free forum for your website.

It’s very easy actually. You just visit the site, create an account and then go to the forum set up area. Some of the things I like about the forums at GoBoardz is that users can upload photos or link to ones on other sites. Members can also have avatars to uniquely express themselves when posting on the boards. If someone creates a really good post on the board you can even save it to Del.icio.us or Digg it.

So I went ahead and created a forum for gardeners and I called it Gardening Tips. I’ve only created one category so far – General – but if you’d like to sign in and begin a topic that would be nice.

Got a camera? Win a prize!

by Tricia

Alright my gardening friends – get your cameras out. We all know you love to take photographs of your gardens, macros of your plants and flowers, birds and other wildlife- well, why not enter your photograph in a contest and win some great prizes?

Photography Corner, the sponsor of this post, is holding their 2006 Photograph of the Year Content contest. They are giving away over $14,000 in prizes. The Grand prize is worth $3,639.95 USD. I’m not going to tell you everything that’s in it because this post will just get huge, but believe me, the grand prize has 12 different prizes in it, and all of the rest of the prizes are wonderful too.

The contest actually began on December 19th, and it will run until the end of January 2007. However the your entries must be submitted by midnight, GMT on Friday, January 12th, 2007. As long as the photos that you submit qualify with the rules of the contest they will be eligible for a chance to win. The Photography Corner community will begin voting on January 15th, and only community members in good standing, with 5 or more posts on the forum will be able to vote.

So what are those rules anyway? Well I’m going to keep it simple here- you can read the full rules over at Photography Corner. The photo’s must be 1024×768 px and 2048×1446 px in size, and they must have all of their EXIF information intact. The photos should have been taken in 2006, and you should be a member of the Photography Corner with at least 5 posts on the forums in order to enter the contest. You can only enter once photography per person.

The rules don’t sound too hard. I’m already a member of Photography corner, although I’m not sure that I’ve made 5 posts on the forums. Either way that can be done, and I think I can rustle up a nice photo to submit to the contest as well. I don’t know that I have any prize winning photos but I think some of mine might be good enough to place and perhaps win some kind of prize. It’s worth a try. The prizes are very nice.

Good luck to those who enter!
