Wine of the Month Club

by Tricia

I know that for many gardeners the weather has turned cool now and you aren’t sitting in your garden enjoying the beauty that you’ve produced, but then again, a number of people that read this site are from continents that are experiencing Spring right now – so perhaps, for them this will be a timely post.

When your garden is lush and full, flowers blooming – do you ever just go and sit on your patio sipping a glass of wine and admire your work? Have dinner parties in your garden? Or now that the weather has cooled have you moved those peaceful relaxing moments and the dinner parties indoors? My husband and I do both- through the summer we often have informal dinner parties, or just sit outdoors on lovely days, and in the cooler months our friends still visit and we sit and talk and share a bottle of wine.

If you are like my husband and I you might be interested in a Wine of the Month Club that I’ve just found.

The wine of the month club claims:

Featured selections of the Wine of the Month Club are brought to you exclusively as a club member only after meeting the highest standards of our taste-testing professionals. Each month we sample dozens of hard-to-find, hand-crafted wines from leading wine producing regions around the world. Only our favorites are judged acceptable as selections of the Wine of the Month Club.

Imagine that- 2 750 ml bottles of taste tested hard to fine bottles of wine coming to your door each month? It sounds wonderful to me, as my husband and I both enjoy a fine wine every now and then.

Play classic nintendo games online

by Tricia

I haven’t played Nintendo games for ages. Perhaps as long as 10 years.

I used to be a Nintendo addict when I was in Nursing school. I’d be in school or on site at a hospital all day and just to relax my mind for an hour or two I’d come home and play tetris or Super Mario brothers, then I’d start studying again, often until 1 or 2 in the morning. Playing Nintendo was my only real downtime while I was a nursing student.

Now I’ve found a site that offers free online games. Oh oh I wonder if I’ll get addicted again? Apparently excessively.net was one of the first sites to offer classic Nintendo games online which means that it’s one of the bigger online game sites. Have you heard of it? I”m just looking at the list of game names and I’m getting excited. Oh dear!

Do you have a dream garden Vacation?

by Tricia

Fellow gardeners – Have you ever thought about dream garden related vacations? Where would you love to go to tour botanical gardens or tropical jungle vegetation? Oops I think I just gave away my own dream garden vacation dreams.

Yes, I’d love to go to Costa Rica or similar places and take a jungle tour to see the birds, animals and luscious tropical plants. I’d come away drooling as I’d know that in my cool climate I’d never be able to grow anything like the plants and flowers I’d see on that trip.

Another dream vacation would be to go to England. Probably London England first. I’d want to visit as many Traditional English gardens as I could as well as some of the Royal Botanical gardens. I’m certain that I’d be able to grow some of the plants that I’d see on that trip.

If I’m not mistaken I think London is fairly expensive, well seeing as their pound is more than twice the value of our dollar it is, so I’d be looking for some Cheap Hotels in London . Nothing tacky or dirty – something nice but inexpensive. OMG I’m remembering some of the English movies and series that I’ve seen where you have a room but the washroom, or water closet as they call it, is shared by all of the residents of a floor. Ok so not that kind of London Hotels. Uh huh.

Obviously I haven’t done any research into this at all. I’m sure if I take a trip to England it will be a few years from now. I don’t even know if it would be best to stay in London to see some beautiful gardens or if there is a better area of England where most of the top gardens to visit would be. Perhaps someone could tell me. It wouldn’t hurt to start gathering information for my future dream trip.

Oh and if anyone has been to London – yes it would still be on the agenda even if all of the best gardens are on the other side of England – I’ve gotta see London! Perhaps you could recommend some nice Hotels in London that my husband and I could stay at? Something nice, close to the famous London attractions – but not very expensive.

Would anyone care to tell me what your dream garden vacation would be? Do you favor a particular type of garden? If you do where would you want to go to see the best of your favorite kind of garden?
