Shade loving spring flower

I took this photo about two weeks ago.

Unfortunately I can’t remember the name of this plant. It’s a spring flower that for me, only blooms for approximately one week each year. The name is something like pasiflora … but yeah, I know it’s not a pasiflora as it’s certainly not a passion flower.

Whatever it is, it’s a lovely spring flower who’s blooms open fully in the daylight hours and close as the light dims in the late afternoon. I have mine planted in a fairly shady area, so it does well in shade.

This flower is no longer blooming and it’s foliage will die down sometime in the next few weeks as we come into the warm weather of summer.

Themed baby shower party supplies

by Tricia

I don’t know about you, but Spring through to the end of summer is when I seem to attend the most baby showers, wedding showers and of course weddings. I have at least one baby shower to attend this month and I believe another one in July! Everyone’s having babies!

If you happen to be the lucky person who’s holding a shower for an expectant mom you might want to visit PartyPail.com where you can get some very nice baby shower party supplies. This online store specializes in party supplies, and they have a large selection of baby shower theme packages that contain everything you need to decorate for that baby shower you’re holding.

The image that I’ve shown above is of the Mod Mom baby shower decorations. The kit contains 8 shower invitations and envelopes, 8 7″ snack plates, 16 napkins, 8 9 ounce hot/cold cups, 24 piece cutlery set, 1 3-ply tablecover, streamers, 1 Mod Mom metallic balloon, and 12 each of the pink, fuchsia and lavender latex 12″ balloons. This kit costs only 29.99 and additional items such as 9″ plates can be purchased separately.

I believe all of the bridal and baby shower themes can be purchased as complete kits like the one I’ve described above, or as separate items.

Visit the main page at Party Pail to see all the rest of their party decorations and party themes.

What’s prettier than a red tulip?

by Tricia

Wordless Wednesday

DSC01931 copy

A closeup of a gorgeous red tulip that was growing in my front boulevard garden bed.

Only a few tulips came up in that area, one at a time. The first tulip was the first tulip of the season in my garden, but just as it opened someone came along and picked it. Luckily I haven’t noticed that anyone has picked any of my other flowers.

There’s still a few tulips blooming but we’re starting into some hot weather so I’m sure they’ll be gone in a day or so.
