This site is now part of the Glam Network

by Tricia

I don’t know if you’ve noticed but this site is now part of the Glam Network, as is my main blog Tricia’s Musings. This is the big deal I was referring to on Tricia’s Musings for the last couple of weeks.

This site and Tricia’s Musings are now listed in the Glam network, and I have signed a contract with Glam to show network ads in my sidebar. As you can see the ads in the top right sidebar are quite nice graphically, and they are for name brand products – Designer fashions, Revlon and other major cosmetic manufactures, shoe companies, jewelers and so on. I’m quite pleased with the ads and I hope that you enjoy them as well. I figured that if I’m going to advertise on some of my sites I might as well advertise quality products.

I believe the Glam network has listings for about 300 internal and external blogs that discuss topics that mainly would be of interest to women. There are a number of great celebrity, fashion, clothing, parenting and lifestyle blogs listed in the network. I’m pleased that two of my sites have been considered of high enough quality to have been included in this fairly exclusive network.

My main hope in joining this network is to increase traffic to my sites. I enjoy making new blogging friends and of course having my posts read by many. If you are here visiting from the Glam Network please stop for a moment and say hello.

An emerging hyacinth

Hyacinth buds

DSC01754 copy

On Friday, after the scent of blooming hyacinths drew me out of the house I went outside with my camera. There were so many different spring flowers blooming!

I don’t know how many photos I ended up taking but it had to have been at least 50 pictures. I’m so thankful that I have a digital camera as it gives me the ability to take as many photos as I like and discard any that don’t turn out well.

I found this small hyacinth just getting ready to go into bloom. I love how the red tinged mauve buds contrast with the bright green leaves.

This hyacinth does look a little sparse. I’ll have to check on it later today and see if more buds came out. It might be that it’s a new bulb, or one that’s beginning to lose it’s strength. Hyacinth bulbs don’t always have the longest lifespan.

Gardeners, Plant and Nature lovers can join in every Sunday, visit As the Garden Grows for more information.

This is why I garden

This weeks Theme is Childhood

DSC01734 copy

Yesterday afternoon, I was sitting at the computer in my living room / dining room and all of a sudden this lovely scent came into the house. I realized that we’d left the back door open and a light breeze was blowing in through the screen door.

The scent was coming from my blooming hyacinths. These flowers have an intoxicating scent and they can truly be overpowering when you are close to them, or when you bring them indoors.

Since I was at least 75 feet away from the closest hyacinth the lovely perfume was quite enjoyable. Noticeable, even intoxicating, but not too strong at all.

This is why I garden. Once the gardening season starts I’m surprised and amazed almost daily but how the plants grow, and how the flowers bloom, or by little things like being able to enjoy my garden without even seeing it simply because I can smell it.

I grew up with hyacinths in my parents garden each and every spring. That’s why I thought that this photo might fit into the “Childhood” theme for photo hunters since they were part of my childhood too.

Take some time to smell the hyacinths if you can. They won’t be around much longer.
