Fragrant Cloud

Fragrant cloud

Fragrant Cloud is a hybrid tea rose. I’ve only got one growing in my garden.

I think mine might be struggling. It’s never grown much, and reaches a maximum height of about two to two and a half feet each year. It does produce lovely full roses with tons of huge petals. However it only blooms two to three times per season for me and surprisingly I haven’t found the flowers to be all that fragrant.

I grow this rose beside Just Joey which out grows, out performs and out scents Fragrant Cloud by miles! Still I love this rose. It’s fighter. It keeps coming back each year.

Let’s hope it does this year now that I said that!

Gardeners, Plant and Nature lovers can join in every Sunday, visit As the Garden Grows for more information.

Blogger Award Season Continues

by Tricia

Did you know that there are more blogging award nominations going on? I was surprised too.

A company that I sometimes do some blogging with decided to create blogger awards that they’ve decided to name The Bl0ggers Choice Awards.

The winning sites in each of the 33 categories will be announced on June 2nd at the P0stieC0n convention in Florida.

If you’d like, you can nominate your own site or sites, and as many other bloggers in the various categories as you like. You can also vote for as many blogs as you’d like to, but I believe you can only vote for a blog once per category.

I’m not exactly sure how long blog nominations will go on as the information I have says that we can nominate and vote for sites through the month of March, but of course it’s April and the site has only just been announced. Perhaps they meant that we can nominate and vote through April? I’m sure they’ll put a clarification up on the Bl0ggers Ch0ice Award site shortly.

To nominate a site simply register for an account and start nominating sites in each of the many categories. It’s unfortunate but I don’t really see a category that this site or others like it might be listed in. Perhaps the educational blog award category? They really need to add a hobby or recreational blog award don’t they?

I haven’t made any nominations yet, but I guess with no limitation on the amount of blogs that one could nominate I could potentially nominate all of my favorite blogs and bloggers. I’d really love it if someone would be kind enough to nominate this site and or any of my other sites.

What are you waiting for? Go and nominate your favorite sites now. I’ll be along shortly to add my many nominations to the list too!

The garden is … Alive

by Tricia

I had a busy day on Monday. I had to go to a doctors appointment and then after that my husband and I ended up going shopping for some much needed supplies.

I had hoped to take a good tour of my garden but it was late in the day when we returned home so I didn’t take as good a look around as I’d hoped too.

I can tell you that my Siberian iris’ are beginning to sprout leaves in my front boulevard flower bed. So are several tulips, Sedum, and the chives in the back garden. I’ve also noticed that my Blue Fescue grass in my front flower bed is greening up in the center – already! It’s so early for that to be coming back to live.

Yellow and purple crocus’ are blooming their heads off on my front and back lawns.

Overall it seems that many of my plants are waking up.

Unfortunately it’s supposed to rain all day here in Toronto. If it clears a bit perhaps I’ll go out into the back yard garden and begin to tidy up the beds. I’m sure that there are many plants poking through the soil that I just haven’t noticed yet because dead leaves and other autumn related debris are covering them.

What’s blooming or growing in your garden?
