This site is now part of the Glam Network

by Tricia

I don’t know if you’ve noticed but this site is now part of the Glam Network, as is my main blog Tricia’s Musings. This is the big deal I was referring to on Tricia’s Musings for the last couple of weeks.

This site and Tricia’s Musings are now listed in the Glam network, and I have signed a contract with Glam to show network ads in my sidebar. As you can see the ads in the top right sidebar are quite nice graphically, and they are for name brand products – Designer fashions, Revlon and other major cosmetic manufactures, shoe companies, jewelers and so on. I’m quite pleased with the ads and I hope that you enjoy them as well. I figured that if I’m going to advertise on some of my sites I might as well advertise quality products.

I believe the Glam network has listings for about 300 internal and external blogs that discuss topics that mainly would be of interest to women. There are a number of great celebrity, fashion, clothing, parenting and lifestyle blogs listed in the network. I’m pleased that two of my sites have been considered of high enough quality to have been included in this fairly exclusive network.

My main hope in joining this network is to increase traffic to my sites. I enjoy making new blogging friends and of course having my posts read by many. If you are here visiting from the Glam Network please stop for a moment and say hello.

How do you like the new look?

by Tricia

Well … what do you think of the new theme?

I stayed up late the other night and finally made the changes that I’ve been warning you for weeks that I was going to make.

For some reason the Flooble expandable script that I was using to roll up some of the menu items in the sidebar of the last theme doesn’t want to work on this theme. So, until I figure out how to get it working or find something else that works the sidebars probably look a little bit full. Hopefully not bad … just full.

If you have any problems navigating the site using this new theme I’d really appreciate it if you’d let me know. I added some features that weren’t built into the theme and they seem to be working fine on my end.

I tested this theme in Firefox, Internet Explorer, Netscape and Opera and it seems to work just fine in all of them. Hopefully if you are using a browser that I didn’t list it works well in that too.

One person wrote to tell me that the text looked funny and sent me a screen shot of the site. The screen shot made the text look like a photo that’s quality was really bad, the text was frayed and blurred at the edges like poor quality print I suppose. I hope that no one else is seeing the text that way. As I said, all appears to work well and look good on my three computers and the text looks fine on my end.

I’ll probably tinker with the theme a bit more, and I’ll likely change the header as that’s the one that came with the theme. I like to personalized/ customize my sites by at least adding in my own headers.

Let me know what you think?

My page rank went up!

by Tricia

I was pleased to discover on Monday that the page rank for this site went up from a PR4 to a PR5. Yeahhhh!

I know some of you might not follow Google Page rank, but if you have a website you should know that Google assigns each site a certain level of page rank. This is a measure of the sites popularity. We all start out at zero, but as our sites age and we start to get some links from other sites Google takes notice and assigns a page rank to our sites. A page rank of 5 is pretty good.

If I keep working on producing quality articles for this site I could see it going to a PR6 or if I was really lucky maybe even a PR7. I think PR6 is a realistic goal. I’d have to do a lot of hard work to get it up to a 7 but of course, that’s possible too.

Right now this site is in a directory of my main domain feverishthoughts.com. What I’d really like to do is move this site to it’s own domain. Unfortunately, now that this site is gaining some good PR it’s a little harder to leave that behind to start all over again. I did however purchase a domain two weeks ago for this site. It’s called homeandgardendiva.com I haven’t even uploaded a blogging program to the site yet so it’s pretty much a dead site. I think I’ll work on that site for the next few months and hopefully the next time that Google comes around assigning page rank to everyone it will gain some PR and maybe I’ll move the posts from this site to the new one at that time.

What would you do?
