I’ve decided to use Glass tiles in my kitchen and bathroom reno projects

by Tricia

I love watching home decor and renovation shows on TLC and the HGTV channels.

I always get great ideas for my own ever ongoing home renovation projects from these shows. If one of the shows is particularly good I’ll literally take notes – writing down product names, or visiting the shows website so that I can find out what products were used and then go on to visit those sites and bookmark them for future use.

I guess I’ve been working on a virtual home renovation scrapbook? Hey the information that I gather is good for my blog posts too of course. If I can’t use an idea maybe you can?

One of the products that caught my eye a while back when I was watching shows like Trading Places and that fun Australian group renovation show The Block is glass tile. I just love the look of it.

I guess you can’t really tell from this photo how much different glass tiles are from standard ceramic tiles, but they are glossy and just have what I think is a very luxurious look to them.

Our kitchen and bathroom renovations won’t take place until sometime next year, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we end up using glass tiles in both rooms.

I mean, I’ve even gone so far as to look for online stores that sell tiles.

I actually found what I think might be a good site to purchase my tiles from. It’s called AnchorBayTile.com and they specialize in the sale of ceramic tile. I’m really happy I found this site and thought that if any of my readers might also be in the process of renovating your homes that you might also be interested in this site.

There’s quite a selection of tiles ranging from ceramic, glass, to metal and wood! Now, I’m not near ready for my reno project yet so I haven’t even begun to compare prices, but as far as I can see AnchorBayTile.com has great prices for quality products. I mean – you can’t find glass or metal tiles at very many retail or online shops and this store has a huge variety.

I’m definitely keeping this site in mind because I just know I’m be purchasing glass and probably ceramic tiles for my projects.

Online window shopping for furniture

by Tricia

If you are thinking of purchasing new furniture, whether it be a particular piece of furniture or perhaps enough to furnish a whole room you should take a moment and have a look at the quality furniture being sold at furniturefromhome.com.

When we complete our basement renovation I’ll be shopping for new furniture. We already have a sectional couch for the room but that’s about it. What I’d really like to do is section the basement off so there’s a laundry room, bathroom, a den or living area and a guest bedroom.

We already have three bedrooms in our home but another bedroom is always handy. However, since we don’t have any spare bedroom furniture so we’ll need to get some Bedroom Furniture. Perhaps something like this bookcase bed. I’ve told you before that we live in a 1927 house and there’s no closets or storage. A bed such as this with all it’s drawers would be fantastic. Perhaps we wouldn’t have to get as much bedroom furniture with such a bed?

Actually, after taking a look at their selection of Leather Sofas perhaps I might ditch the old sectional sofa. They have some very nice leather sofas to choose from – regular two or three seaters and sectional. I like them! Take a look.

Actually I’m getting some more ideas as I browse through the site. If you visit their living room furniture section and scroll to the bottom of the page you’ll see a three seat black leather couch at the bottom. It’s the leather executive media sectional sofa home theater set. We have a large HDTV. We could get a sofa like that one, put our HDTV in the basement and have a a movie screening room. Yeah, I like that idea.

Would you set up a media room if you could?

I really do like the furniture at this online store. Have a look for yourself, perhaps you’ll find some pieces that you like too. They offer free national delivery too – I think that’s a bonus!

I love browsing through Interior Design sites

by Tricia

As you might already know from reading this blog and some of my other sites I’m very interested in renovation, DIY projects and Interior Design. In order to get ideas for my own projects I watch some of the TLC shows about renovation and design, and I often find myself browsing through Interior Design websites.

One of the sites that I’ve just been visiting is called Long Beach CA Interior Design. Obviously they specialize in work in California. That’s pretty far away from me so all I can do is browse.

I really like the kitchen and bathroom designs that I found in the sites Interior Design past projects section. They did this kitchen and bathroom in a Spanish Hacienda style home. The exterior has a real Spanish feel to it, but the inside is very modern and definitely influenced by North American trends.

Are you like me? Do you enjoy looking at the way interior designers design the look of a room or home? If you do, do you get ideas from the designs that you see that you can use in your own home?
