I wonder how many of my neighbors grow toxic plants?

by Tricia

I think I’m going to have to become an expert at picking out toxic plants.

When we take our puppy for walks she tries to investigate everything and often tries to taste everything she encounters. I don’t know how many small stones I’ve pulled out of her mouth!

Now that the cold weather is here the plants in peoples gardens have all withered up and I can’t tell what the heck they are. As a result going near enough to any plant to taste it is taboo for our little pup.

It’s bad enough that I have some very toxic plants in my own garden, but since I haven’t been walking around the neighborhood much this year, now that I’m out everyday walking around the neighborhood I have no idea what everyone else has been growing or whether it might be harmful to my pup if she tries to taste their plants.

I guess for proper dog walking etiquette it’s best anyway if she’s not wandering onto everyone’s lawn to investigate their gardens.

For those of you with dogs how do you keep them out of the plants? – your own or your neighbors.

My new garden pest

Well, I missed Green Thumb Sunday yesterday. This is my main reason:

IMG_2643

Yes, we got a puppy. She’s investigating some of the plants in the garden in this shot. As you can see we’ve had our first snow too.

Midnight is a Labrador Retriever pup and as you might already know Labs love to chew, chew, chew. I can only imagine what kind of challenges are ahead of me next spring and onward as far as keeping my garden intact!

That of course will be my goal. Keep the dog happy, but keep the garden looking nice too.

Luckily we have a number of nice parks in the area, as well as hiking trails and we aren’t too far from the beach. So … hopefully I’ll be able to keep the dog busy and happy in the various neighborhood parks and limit the damage that she might do to the garden.

Wish me luck!

BTW if you want to read more about Midnight and what happened after we brought her home early Saturday morning you can read about it at my other blog Tricia’s Musings.

Pamper your dog with a designer dog bed

by Tricia

Any dog lovers out there? I’ve just been to a fantastic website called OhMyDogSupplies.com and they have a huge selection of products for dogs.

You can get everything for your beloved pet dog at this online store. They carry dog travel accessories, dog mats, ramps, blankets, throws, bowls, car seat covers, placemats, elevated dog feeders, dog mats and crate mats and best of all a full line of dog beds!

If you want to pamper your pet you’ve got to take a look at the dog beds. Beds? What am I saying? They not only have dog beds but doggy couches, designer dog beds, orthopedic dog beds and wooden dog beds.

My personal favorite is the dog couches. I think this would be a favorite of most dogs too since where do we find them whenever we come home from work? On the couch of course … so why not give them there own couch to lay on?

They actually specialize in designer dog beds that can’t be found in stores like Petco. I must say that I do like their designer dog beds. They have a huge selection of styles, and the materials and patterns used for the dog beds are of a quality equal to human quality furnishings. I’m sure you could pick out a designer doggy bed that would match your homes decor.

I always treat my pets like a member of the family because I truly believe that they are family. I know several people that feel the same way. If you are like me – why not treat your four pawed family member to a luxurious yet well priced dog bed?

Oh and before I forget, all pet beds. Isn’t that great?
