Gardening in the dark

by Tricia

I think that I’ve mentioned more than a few times here that I often tend to do a good portion of my gardening work at night. Why? Because my snoopy old lady neighbor who is very lonely follows me around and makes my gardening work hell ’cause it takes me at least three times longer to get anything done when she’s outside watching me.

I love the dear girl but I’d rather sit and have a tea with her before or after I get my gardening done.

There have been times when I’ve gone outside and planted new plants in the dark. My husband holding a big halogen light so I could see.

Now I’m starting to think of less obvious ways to garden in the dark. What about a headlamp flashlight? This would be helpful too if I’m gathering earthworms for the compost or another area of soil in the garden too.

I came across a company called Opticsplanet.net and they sell streamlight flashlights, as well as a number of other brands such as Surefire and Pelican. They have everything from the headlamp flashlight I was fantasizing about earlier, to LED flashlights, pocket, gun mount lights, and flash light accessories. The company also offers discount pricing and free UPS on orders over $29.95 so I think I might just spend a bit of time over there browsing and see if I can come up with a way to light my garden as I work and defeat my nosy neighbor.

Holiday gifts from the Succulent Wife

by Tricia

Everybody out there that has started their Christmas shopping already must look at this site. This site sells products made by independent designers. There are so many unique items in The Succulent Wife’s Holiday Gift Guide. I can’t believe I found this site. I sure hope that my readers like it too.

I really like the concept behind this shop.

The Succulent Wife tries to promote women artist by offering a venue for their custom crafted products to be sold. When you go to the site you can shop by category or by artist. When I was browsing around I chose to look at the different categories and I found areas to satisfy any shoppers needs. You can choose from holiday gifts, jewelry, Home accents, beauty and spa, Children’s gifts, stationary, gift ideas, pets, gift certificates and there’s even a section that lists what’s on sale.

I was taking a look through the Home accents section and I found these lovely Bodhi Leaf flower lights garland. It’s gorgeous. It really is made of Bodhi leaves. It’s amazing. You must have a look at it. I have a feeling that I’ve found a gift for myself. There are so many hand crafted items from pillows to delicately decorated boxes.

If you decide to visit the Succulent Wife you should take a look at the Beauty and Spa section. Once there you’ll find Lip balms, Travel toiletries sets, the bath essential set and much more. I have a feeling that if I buy gifts from this company that it will be something like – one for you, one for me, one for you and one more for me. LOL

Racing and Automotive fans

by Tricia

In an earlier post I mentioned SpeedTV, well I spent a bit of time over there watching many of the videos they have online. I particularly liked the section of Motorcycle videos. You should see some of the bikes on the Thunder Sturgis Bike Week video. Many are very unusual. There are so many styles of bikes- I never knew!

I’m not a huge fan of motorcycles- not riding them anyway. For some reason they’ve always bothered me since I was a child. Probably one going by me when I was little scared me and that’s stayed with me. However I do appreciate looking at them and watching skilled riders. Then again, maybe I’m just one of those women that like the guys that ride motorcycles and muscle cars? Yeah maybe.

If you enjoy cars – muscle and otherwise, drag racing, nascar, or motorcycles you might want to visit SpeedTV. com. They also have a fantastic section on Automotive News where you can find information about new car models. This might be of interest to those thinking of purchasing a new car.

Hmmm I wonder if I can find some old car parts or an old motorcycle and use it as a garden prop? Now that might be interesting. Of course it would probably take up my small yard.
