New outdoor decor items at Online Discount Mart

by Tricia

Some of my plants are starting to come out of their long slumber and tiny green shoots are showing in some areas of my garden beds. Spring is definitely on the way.

Now that Spring is announcing it’s impending arrival my thoughts have started to turn towards getting outside and gardening once more. Of course I can’t do much outside yet, but I can buy things for the garden can’t I?

You have to check out the Fountains and other great items at onlinediscountmart.com. They have a lot of gardening related decor and accessories that I’m sure many of you will enjoy.

They have lots of new items in stock for the upcoming season. Everything from flags, kitchen and bath decor and accessories, as well as outdoor decor as I’ve already mentioned.

I really enjoy browsing through the many items at Online Discount Mart. I wouldn’t doubt that I’ll end up buying something if I keep browsing!

Check it out for yourself.

Zinnias still a hot flower in 2007

by Tricia

Just like the world of fashion, the gardening world has it’s stars and it’s hasbeens. I’m not sure which plants are old news for 2007 but I do know that Zinnias are still going to be quite popular.

profusionzinia.jpg New Profusion Zinnias are making heads turn. Profusion Fire and Profusion Apricot (which is now going to be called Profusion Deep Apricot) are two popular Zinnias that you might want to try to get your hands on this spring.

The Profusion Deep Apricot Zinnia has a richer apricot color that will sizzle in the summer garden.

Other new profusion Zinnias that will be coming out this spring are the Profusion Coral Pink. It’s more pink than coral but it’s name suits it.

Profusion Double Cherry is a double petaled cherry red.

The profusion knee high zinnias are available in red and white and they’ll knock your socks off. They’re close to 20 inches in height, with a more open look to the flower. These knee high Zinnias should look fantastic with Salvias and verbenas or even ornamental grasses such as Hameln dwarf fountain or Purple fountain.

Profusion Zinnias are easy care. Just select a sunny well draining site. They are apparently quite drought tolerant. Give them a light dose of fertilizer every four to six weeks throughout the growing season.

Even my wedding band has a garden theme

by Tricia

You know, I was just trying to decide how long I’ve been interested in gardening and I’ve decided that to some degree, I must have had an interest even as a young child. I can remember helping my parents in our home gardens and at the two gardens we had at our cottage. I might have complained a bit about it every now and then, but once I got working helping to pull the weeds or planting seeds and watching the new plants grow I discovered that I actually enjoyed what I was doing.

Chris and I have beautiful wedding bands, and even these I realize have a bit of a garden theme to them. Well my band does anyway.

We didn’t go the route of choosing wedding rings the way most couples do. Chris and I were both jewelers at the time – not sellers of jewelry but the people who actually make jewelry. It’s very bad luck for jewelers to make their own wedding bands, so as a gift, our brother in law who was also a jeweller, hand crafted our beautiful bands on his own as a gift to us.

We did have input into the design- thank goodness! Mine does have a garden theme it’s a concave gold band with hand carved grape vine and grape leaves intertwined around the whole band. Small emeralds and diamonds alternate around the band between the grape leaves. It’s beautiful. I wanted emeralds in my band because I felt they gave me a tie to nature.

Chris band is convex yellow gold with a strip of white platinum encircling the middle of the band. It’s very nice, but sorry no garden theme to his band.

Even though we didn’t choose our wedding bands the traditional way, we did have a traditional wedding. However, we did get a friend to do the flowers and decorations for the pews as she was working at a fantastic flower shop at the time.

Don’t you just love having connections?
