Pingo International calling cards

by Tricia

Do you make a lot of long distance calls? I don’t very often these days but I do go through periods where there are a lot of long distance and international calls going out of this house. I guess one of those times is coming up with the Christmas season.

This year I might go ahead and sign up with Pingo and use their prepaid calling card service to make my long distance and international calls. I can even use the Pingo calling cards with my cell phone and get much lower rates than I can with my cell phone provider, and I’ve heard that the calling cards can be used with VOIP systems as well. One nice thing that I like about Pingo is that when you sign up they give you $5 USD in free calls. That could add up to 4 hours of free International calls just for joining.

Once you sign up for a card they send you your code and pin number right away via email so you can use it just about immediately rather than waiting weeks for a card to be delivered via snail mail.

If I get a card I think I might call one of my friends who happens to live in Australia these days. The Australia calling card rates are quite reasonable. Actually I’ve found that all of their rates, no matter what country you are looking at calling or calling from are reasonable even Pakistan calling cards are quite low. You know, now that I’m thinking about it- these calling cards might make great stalking stuffers. Hmmm another Christmas gift idea to think about.

What’s on your wish list?

by Tricia

It’s cold outside, sometimes rainy, sometimes snowing, but if you are like me- a true gardener at heart, you are starting to dream about the next growing season. You are aren’t you?

If so, what would be on your dream gift list? We might be the easiest people to please this season. A packet of seeds from a plant that we’ve been longing to try, or perhaps a pair of Felco pruners? I’m a lefty so I have Felco #9 pruners, and old pair of my parents Felco #2.

What other items would you list if you could? Gloves, garden clogs, garden journals or plaques? Fancy plant markers? Garden statues, water falls, or gnomes? Or would you choose bird baths, bird feeders, wind chimes, weather vanes, or outdoor thermometers?

Maybe your loved ones could get you some bulbs that have already been prepared so they’ll bloom indoors for you in the new year? Or maybe you’d like to try an orchid or bonsai? Gift certificates for garden centers or stores that carry outdoor furniture- patio tables, BBQ’s, sheds?

Gardeners like myself who love to photograph the plants in their own gardens and others might be interested in photography equiptment, photography software for the computer, or photographic printing supplies. Some gardeners might be interested in software that will help them create an online garden journal, or perhaps landscaping software.

Then there are the garden books. That would keep you busy throughout the long cold winter wouldn’t it? Perhaps William Alexander’s the $64 Tomato, or Tracey DiSabato-Aust’s revised The Well-Tended Perennial Garden.

The list goes on and on. Tell me how I did- did I hit on any of the items that you would like to get for the holidays? What other items would you add to the list?

A wide range of Gourmet gift ideas for the holidays

by Tricia

I’m back to give you some more Yummy gift ideas. I swear I must stop looking at sites that sell delicious looking food items when I’m hungry. My stomach is growling now as I write this post. Don’t worry, I’ll get something to eat just as soon as I tell you about this wonderful site.

I just stumbled across a site that makes the most delicious looking and sounding Gourmet Gifts. The gift packages and baskets would make a great holiday gift for someone you love. E Gourmet Chef claims to use only the finest products that the world has to offer. I spent some time browsing over the various kinds of gifts that one could give and they range from food collections such as a Beef Wellington dinner for two, to cookware, cheese boards, gourmet baskets, kitchen electronics and gadgets.

If anyone wants to get me a gift from this site I’d love it! I fancy myself as a great cook and have been told so by many people. I enjoy cooking fancy meals for others and if you visited my kitchen you’d see that I’m a kitchen electronics and nifty kitchen gadget junkie. I think I’ll get myself a snack and then come back and browse the site. I’ll be able to handle looking at all the delicious choices better if I have some food in my tummy first.
