There’s nothing better than a flat panel TV

by Tricia

You can not believe how happy I am to be home from Vegas! I’m still sick and recovering from my trip. I haven’t managed to do much at all since we’ve been home, but I can tell you that one of the things I appreciate is being able to watch all the shows we taped while we were away and well … just being able to see them on a decent sized TV. Our hotel had advertised their rooms as having flat panel TVs but they did not. We had a small, at most 20 inch, TV set that only got 9 channels!

As I said now that I’m home and don’t have much energy to do anything I’m quite happy to sit back and catch up on all the TV shows that we taped while we were away.

We have a Samsung DLP and I love it. One day though, we’ll probably end up getting another HD ready flat panel TV perhaps for the basement when we renovate it.

If you are thinking of buying one of the new flat panel TVs you might want to visit Wize.com where you can read reviews of LCD and Plasma flat panel TVs.

They’ve set up the listings so that the televisions with the highest consumer ratings (Wize Ratings) are listed near the top of each review page. You can of course search for television reviews by brand, television type, price range, screen format and display size.

When you find a television that you are interested in you can click on the listing to read all the reviews and even find online stores to purchase the set. Check it out.

I’m back from Vegas

by Tricia

Sorry for the lack of posts since Wednesday. I had planned to write regularly while I was in Vegas, but I barely had an internet connection in my hotel so I was unable to make any new posts!

That was such a drag! I was in Vegas for two blogging conventions and ended up with out internet access. How Ironic huh?

Well, I can tell you that the weather was much nicer in Las Vegas than it was here in Toronto while I was away! As our plane took off on Thursday afternoon I noticed what looked like snow flurries hitting the planes window! Ah it was snowing!

Last year you might remember that Vegas had snow in December, A few inches I believe, and we hadn’t even had snow here in Toronto by that time. Quite the change this year!

Las Vegas was a little warmer this past week than it normally is around this time in November. I’d say it averaged about 80 F during the day and low 70’s at night. Very comfortable temperatures since there was really no humidity to speak of at all.

I got home late last night or perhaps you might say early this morning and I already miss the Las Vegas weather. It was raining and cold and just plain gloomy looking outside today! Not inviting at all.

It won’t be long before the cold weather sets in, I’m sure of it.

We still had our patio table and chair set up outside so my husband tried to spend some time outside this afternoon in order to take them apart (they are metal and glass) and store them but he only got the job half done as it started to rain heavily.

Tomorrows supposed to be cool but mainly sunny. Perhaps we’ll get that patio furniture put away tomorrow and if I’m feeling up to it I’d better start working on putting the garden to bed for the winter too!

Have you finished all your autumn garden tasks yet? Is your garden all tucked in and ready for winter?

Planning a much needed vacation

by Tricia

Speaking of traveling. I keep saying that Chris and I need to go on a vacation. We haven’t been anywhere for ages, and when we have gone to another city we’ve almost always ended up staying with family.

Somehow that’s just not the type of holiday I’ve been craving.

I have a few places that I’d like to vacation in. I’d love to go to Costa Rica, several places in Europe and for some reason I’d like to go to Orlando to go to Disney World.

Quite the mix eh?

Actually the only place that probably is feasible right now is Orlando. We could fly or drive and it would still end up costing less than flying to Costa Rica or Europe! When we go to Disney World we’d probably stay in an Orlando vacation home rental. I really don’t care for hotels all that much and if we rented a vacation home we’d be able to cook our own meals and relax a bit more than we would in a hotel. It’d feel more home like.

Have you stayed in vacation homes when you’ve traveled?
