Tidying up the garden on a nice fall day

by Tricia

Do you ever just go in your garden and start chopping away at the plants?

Of course you do, most of you are gardeners. Naturally by chopping away I simply mean you see a dead branch on a rose bush or shrub, some dead leaves here and there on other plants, flowers that need to be dead headed and so on.

Sunday was on of those days for me.

I went into the garden in the early evening and it was 10 pm by the time I came back inside! It’s a good thing we have one of those big security lights at the back of the house to light up the yard!

Several of our roses were overgrown and needed pruning. That’s what got me started. As I made my way through the garden beds I found many flowers that had started to go to seed so I got some of the small jewelry bags that I keep on hand and collected the seeds.

I’m keep the little bags of seeds that I collected open slightly so all of the moisture can leave the bag. I’ve also got to remember to put a few grains of rice in the bag to absorb moisture as well. There’s nothing worse than collecting seeds, sealing them up and then having them go moldy because you didn’t store them properly or because they weren’t fully dry when stored.

When the seed baggies are totally dry I’ll take them and store them in a nice cool place. Usually that ends up being the coolest corner of my basement.

Have you been pruning any of your plants? Collecting seeds for next year?

Oh … I overworked myself. I’ve got an aching back. One of the woes of gardening!

Stainless steel decor and accents

by Tricia

Do you like the look of stainless steel decor? I think it gives a home or room a very modern look. It can add an accent to what was once a boring corner or give the look of cleanliness and efficiency.

When we get around to renovating our kitchen I’d love to have stainless steel appliances and fixtures. At this point the only stainless steel in my kitchen is the sink, taps and our microwave. I’ll get there though!

If you enjoy the look of stainless steel you should take a look at the products being sold at the Stainless Steel Store. The have items for every room in your house and outdoors too!

When you visit the site you’ll discover that they have stainless steel cooking accessories and kitchen decor, items for dining, outdoor items such as stainless steel globes, torches, decorative pinwheels, tea light holders, stainless steel birdfeeders, firepits and more. Check it out for yourself. I think you’ll be pleased by the selection and prices.

Gorgeous Casa Sollevare Luxury Home

by Tricia

Hey, do you enjoy looking at new homes?

I guess you could call it a form of window shopping.

I enjoy occasionally going to open houses in the area to see how other people have decorated or renovated their homes. Especially if the home is similar in design to my own. It’s a great way to get some ideas.

Even if the house isn’t similar to the home you’re currently in it’s a great way to get ideas for your own home or as a way to begin developing plans for a home you might buy in the future.

I sometimes even browse the MLS listings to compare home prices and take a virtual tour of houses. You could even do a search on one of the search engines for homes that have features that you’re interested in.

For example if you were looking for “luxury golf home Italian architecture” you’d find this absolutely gorgeous house!

This home, currently being highlighted on the CasaSollevare.com website is owned by the architect that created the luxury design on the Colorado Golf course. It was actually named the 2006 home of the year by Colorado Homes & Lifestyles magazine. It’s a Tuscan design and this luxurious home is a cliff side home elevated 350 feet. It has a 360 degree view that extends 50 miles and overlooks Colorado’s most popular wine producing area.

I love the gorgeous fireplace parlor.

Can you imagine retiring to the parlor after a fine meal? The chairs are lovely too. They look like some that I saw on another website earlier this week that were made of old wine barrels.

I’d also be more than pleased to have a kitchen like the one I’ve included an image of below in my own home! It’s modern yet appears to have that timeless old fashion style to it as well. I love the warm yellow walls too.

The attention to detail within the home is amazing. Each room is furnished beautifully.

I could add more photos and continue to gush over this lovely home, but the best suggestion I could make would be to visit the site and go on the virtual tour. I believe if you do the whole tour you’ll see all of the main rooms of the house on the upper and lower floors.

Believe me when I say this home has it all including a gym and spa, garden room, kitchen, wine cellar and so on. It’s even got an elevator!

Unfortunately this home is not within my price range at $2,500,000 but for all I know it may be within your budget! Whether it is or isn’t it’s a nice home to have a peak at and to dream about owning.
