My Addiction

by Tricia

I went out on Saturday and bought several types of spring bulbs from Freesia to tulips. I haven’t purchased bulbs for a couple of years because I planted so many in the first three years that we had the garden. I think I’ve planted more than 3000 bulbs in those first years.

Unfortunately some of the bulbs have either died off, or else they were dug up and carried off by those pesky squirrels, so I just had to purchase more right?

Depending on the weather I hope to plant them later today or perhaps tomorrow. No delaying like I did with all of those annuals. Uh huh, these are going in the ground as soon as possible.

I’ll tell you exactly what I bought and planted in my next post – and how many there were. I don’t have the bags near me right now but I’d estimate there are at least 300 bulbs this time round!

Yeah I’m addicted to gardening, so shoot me. LOL

It’s click and comment Monday and yeah, I don’t have a renter, but please feel free to visit one of the links in my blogroll ( My blogroll is on the Links page) Pick someone to visit and leave a comment, then visit their renter or someone on their blogroll and leave a comment there. Do this at least five times to spread the bloggy love.

This site won an Award!

by Tricia

I’m honoured to announce that As the Garden Grows won Best Nature Site at the first ever Blog Emmy Awards! Whoooohooo!

I’m just amazed! Thank you to those who nominated this site and to those who voted.

Two of my other sites were nominated as well – Tricia’s Musings for Excellence but it didn’t win and Breath of Life for Great Art Site and it didn’t win either but my nominee won so I’m happy!

I had suggested that Mysterious Lady from Mysterious Lady’s Clues to Life create a new category called “most sites nominated” but she failed to take me up on that one. LOL

Here’s my award:

My congratulations to all of the other people who were nominated and to all of the winners. The blog Emmy’s are going to be a quarterly event, so check Mysterious ladies site in three months or so for the next Blog Emmy’s (but do visit earlier too, it’s a great site). Thanks to Mysterious Lady for coming up with this wonderful event. It was a lot of fun.

Seed Exchange?

by Tricia

As I’ve been viewing the sites participating in Green Thumb Sunday (see post below), and looking at other websites that post photos of beautiful gardens, plants and flowers an idea popped into my head.

Does anyone want to try a seed exchange?

I grow a number of plants and I tend to collect seeds from the plants at this time of year so that I can start some of them again in March or later in the spring. If you look at my What’s Growing page you’ll see several of the plants that I grow listed there. I’d be happy to exchange some plant seeds with others if you are interested.

Leave a comment and let me know if you’d like to participate.

Hey, it’s click and comment Monday! If you want to participate, click on one of the links in my blogroll and leave that person a comment. Then visit their renter or a link on their site and travel to various sites in that manner. Try to visit up to five different sites as you travel around. Perhaps you’ll discover a new site that you really enjoy by doing this.
