It’s a Holly Jolly Christmas

I took this photo at the beginning of October. It’s of my Holly bush.

The holly (really a male and female Prince and Princess Holly planted together) is planted in the back corner of my garden. I can’t say that it’s grown much in the four or so years that it’s been planted there, but it’s healthy and flowers then produces lovely red berries each Autumn. I think the holly has only grown about half a foot since I planted it. At this rate it will take 20 years to reach a decent height!

Looking out into the garden from my kitchen window I can see that there are still red berries on the Holly. I guess the birds haven’t eaten all of them yet. Perhaps I’ll bring the camera outside later and take a photo of the Holly with a little snow on it.

I hope that everyone has been enjoying the holiday season and I wish you a Happy New Year!

Who got engaged on Valentines?

by Tricia

Ok, so tell me … Did anyone get engaged today? It is Valentines after all and I believe that this date, and New Years are the two most popular days for popping the big question.

No, I didn’t get engaged. Uh huh. Nope, back when I got engaged – 13 years ago, it was New Years Eve. I didn’t even get an Engagement Diamond Ring that evening since we were both jewelers at the time. Yes, believe it or not I had a rare disorder known as “Jewelry burnout”. I bet that you don’t even know anyone else who has that disorder do you?

I still don’t have an engagement ring. Maybe it’s time to get one, although I have no idea what would go with my custom made concave diamond and emerald wedding band.

Hmmm let’s see. If I was going to get a Diamond ring I think that I might like one like this Diamond and sapphire engagement ring, but I’d see if I could substitute the sapphires for emeralds so that it would go with my wedding band.

Which engagement ring would you chose if you were looking?
