Have you hired a Nanny?

by Tricia

Many of you that read this blog are not only gardeners but parents as well. I was wondering if any of you ever hired Nannies for your children?

My sister had twins and she had her own business so she ended up hiring a few different nannies until her children were old enough to attend school full time.

I even had a nanny when I was young. I was the last of five children and my mom needed to get back to work with five kids to care for so she hired an older woman to be my nanny. I actually believe my very first memories are of my nanny.

I think that if you manage to find the right nanny for your children, and one that fits in with the rest of the family that it can be a great experience. It allows parents to get back to work and gives them some peace of mind that their young children are being cared for properly.

I didn’t realize this, having no children of my own yet, that there are places on line where you can find nannies. Like this one – Nanny Sydney – that specializes in finding nannies for homes in Sydney Australia. I’d imagine that there are sites like this all over the world.

I know that nannies aren’t for everyone but I just thought I’d bring up my own pleasant experiences from a child’s point of view. My nanny was fantastic. As I said, she was an older lady. Perhaps that’s why she was so good. She really wanted to care for a child. It wasn’t just a job to her.

Elegant D’Legne Chandeliers

by Tricia

I love redecorating. The trouble is that I’m very particular about how I want the rooms in my home to look. I’m sure I’m not alone in that preference.

If you’re like me, you get a picture in your head of how you’d like a room to look – the type of furniture, the style, the decor … everything right down to the lighting.

I’ve said many times that our house is in a state of renovation. I’m hoping that before summer ends our living room / dining room will be finished. Then I might change the decor slightly.

I know that I’ll definitely be changing the lighting in the dining room portion of the room.

Originally I’d gone for a more modern style of lighting, but now that we are more than half done our renovations I know that I need to go with a more traditional form of lighting.

One of the types of lighting that I’ve considered has been a chandelier. My parents had lovely chandeliers in their dining room and in their living room. Perhaps that’s part of the reason why I’ve been thinking I might want a chandelier now.

They have a beautiful elegant crystal chandelier that combines the tradition of crystal with a modern design.

The D’Legne Chandelier is made of had polished crystals, and has a chrome plated steel frame. It even includes the bulbs.

Visit the site to view more photos of this lovely chandelier. I think it’s an impressive design.

In the meantime I’ll try to get my renovations done and decide if a chandelier will suit the room or not.

Working in other gardens now

by Tricia

Well Chris is out of town tonight. He went to see his family and help them get a few things done around their own yard.

His parents are getting older and for some reason they decided to pull out most of their shrubs and even the raspberry plants that I gave them a few years ago so that their yard would be mostly just grass. Grass that had to be reseeded and cared for this weekend.

I’m still not sure why they took out the raspberries. They were at the back fence beside some trees so they weren’t interfering with the yard in anyway. Raspberries don’t need much care and they weren’t in the middle of the yard. Oh well … that’s what they wanted to do and I guess that’s ok.

Did anyone else go to their parents or perhaps to an older neighbor or relatives home to help them get some yard work done this weekend?
